It can’t always be about sports. Middle school is a crucial time for getting kids involved in quality extra-curricular programs. The district is sending the wrong message.

Mr. Griffith has helped to shape Batavia's strong music program, which our community is known for. There has to be other ways that the board can reduce spending instead of reducing the number of music teachers at Rotolo. Dismissing Mr. Griffith as a teacher will not only impact orchestra students at Rotolo, but will impact the entire Batavia music program for years to come. Please support the arts!!!

I don’t think it’s fair that you would let go of someone who has helped so many people. He has such a genuine and honest heart and makes such a great role model for all of his students. He’s the reason that many of us are still playing, and I swear I wouldn’t be here without him. To lay him off would be doing an injustice to not only him, but to many, many other people who consider him one of their greatest role models. Yes, we need music, but most importantly we need him.

I don’t know why they are taking the only orchestra teacher and not a different teacher because there are so many other teachers in the building but only one orchestra teacher because it’s not fair to him or to all the kids that’s are in orchestra.

This is absolutely outrageous. I have never before had an orchestra teacher as dedicated, thorough, and thoughtful before. Mr. Griffith is an inspiration to me and it just makes no sense to let him go. The band has 4 teachers and to take away the orchestra teacher and replace with a band teacher is ridiculous. He has helped me and my classmates become better musicians, and the orchestra students to come will be deprived greatly if he is not there. Overall, Mr. Griffith is an amazing teacher, a kind person, and an awesome asset to the school that we need to keep.

Mr Griffith is one of the best teachers at Rotolo, losing him would not only be a devastating blow to our music program but to our children who go to him for for support as well. Mr Griffith has an amazing ability to connect with kids and they all look forward to having him year after year. BPS would be foolish to let him go elsewhere!

I think this is very outrageous and it should be stopped. I get that he was the last hired but there is 3 band teachers and only one orchestra teacher. The band teachers were meant to teach band not orchestra. Please stop this

As a teacher who works with gifted children, I understand the importance of employing talented teachers who are dedicated to working with our children and encouraging them to develop and pursue their gifts and strengths. The educational, developmental, and personal benefits of playing in an orchestra are proven and cannot be replicated in any other learning environment. Please keep this teacher, so he can do this important work.
