This is ridiculous that there are three band teachers and the orchestra is the one losing their only teacher.

It's frustrating that it appears that the school administration does not see the value of music in Batavia at the middle school level - first the (now- defunct) proposed changes in electives/music, and now the elimination of an EXCELLENT well-loved and admired orchestra teacher. Sad. We need to KEEP the amazing and talented Mr. Griffith.

Mr.Griffith is the most inspiring teacher you will ever meet. He is the reason people want to go to orchestra and if you get rid of him you get rid of most of the orchestra with him.

Music (taught by specialized teachers specific to the craft) is an essential part of a well- rounded education.

Mr. Griffith has made me a great musician and has taught me so much. His personality is the best, he’s always smiling and having so much fun. The last thing I want is for that to go away.

I had the privilege of working with Chris in Yorkville. The staff and students were devestates when he left for RMS. He is fantastic in work and in life

Chris Griffith was my 6th grade orchestra teacher. Seeing this is a disappointment for his current students and future students. He is a great teacher. I was always excited to go to orchestra because he made class educational as well as fun. He always had so much energy for class, which was a big reason it was fun. I had the opportunity to help in a summer orchestra camp with him for two years and I was able to see how passionate he was to help his students succeed and be the best they could be. It was sad to hear him leave yorkville and it’s even more disappointing that batavia will lose someone who is as passionate as Chris. I know from personal experience that band and orchestra directors take different approaches to teaching, the orchestra will not be the same moving forward. Having a band director for the orchestra will limit the possibilities the orchestra will grow because teaching orchestra is not the same as teaching a band. It’s a shame that some school districts do not appreciate orchestra as much as band.

Chris made my son want to go to school everyday when he taught in Yorkville. His energy and excitement as a teacher was contagious. We were sad when Chris left Yorkville but understood why he would want to go to Batavia and their excellent music program. Shame on you for giving him this opportunity and then reducing the program. Have you ever watched him with the students or are you just sitting in your office balancing your budget? Sad when excellence is no longer rewarded.
