The orchestra needs to be supported and the middle school needs an experienced string musician in order to help students to develop the vital technique needed for their future in orchestra.

Mr. Griffith is an incredibly valued teacher that BPS can not afford to lose. I implore the school board to reconsider this decision and find a way to continue to offer high quality musical education that makes a real difference for these students. The current plan to remove an orchestra teacher and borrow one from band hurts both band and orchestra significantly. I oppose not only the loss of the position, but also the loss of Mr Griffith himself who has shown himself to be a truly extraordinary teacher in all respects. BPS, do the right thing for our students!

My sister has done nothing but grow under the instruction of Mr. Griffith. I cannot fathom why there is a necessity for 3 band teachers at the middle school level but there is not enough funding for one amazing orchestra teacher. For the sake of the program and for its students, it would be foolish to let such an amazing teacher go.

My son was lucky enough to have been taught by Mr Griffith in middle-school at Yorkville. He is an amazing teacher that instilled a love of playing the violin in my child who still plays today. My son still considers him one of the greatest teachers he's ever had.

Orchestra requires a dedicated instructor not one shared with another music program. Mr Griffith is a wonderful musician who has provided the students with critical instruction, extracurricular orchestra practice & unique performance opportunities. Please reconsider suspending his employment.

Chris Griffith is one of the reasons that my daughter has stayed in orchestra. I am really sad to hear the news that he is has been fired and do not feel that this is the best decision for our school. We need Chris Griffith to stay in his current position!

Mr Griffith is an extraordinary string educator whose expertise and skills cannot simply be replaced through restaffing. The administration owes the orchestra students and parents a more thorough consideration of the impact this will have on string education in Batavia.

I have a music education degree with an emphasis in orchestra. My student teaching experience was with a band director who was also in charge of the orchestra program. He was a wonderful director and musician but it was evident that his lack of knowledge in strings had a negative impact on the success of the orchestra students. Without that specialized string knowledge, he was unable to bring the group to its full potential. Please reconsider this disappointing decision as it is only harmful to the education of the string students.

As a fellow colleague I find this to be a terrible and discouraging move by the school board. Chris is a wonderful teacher who inspires his students and has added so much to music education in Batavia. He doesn't deserve this, and neither do his students. I encourage everyone to use their strongest voice to fight this and help Mr. Griffith continue to grow the wonderful string program he has developed in Batavia!
