My daughter went through the Orchestra program at RMS. He is the third director since we have moved here in 2011. They already have a more difficult job with one instructor vs 3 band directors. My older daughter was in band and she enjoyed it but I always felt like most of the resources were always going there and the orchestra suffered.

Having someone not qualified as an orchestra teacher is really disappointing to learning children. Mr G. is not only qualified but is a kind hearted person who loves what he does.

Orchestra was a big part of my middle school life at RMS. It's important to give students the right tools to enjoy their instrument

This is very disappointing. I thought Batavia was better than this. This will be in the front of my mind as I vote for school board members in the upcoming election. I’m afraid I can’t give my vote to anyone who voted in favor of letting this incredible talent go.

This is so very sad. My son loves orchestra - he loves music - Mr Griffith is the reason. Who do we need to send this petition to?

My sister has grown so much as a student and as a musician in Mr. Griffiths orchestra class. It would be a huge disappointment to let him go and replace him, especially to replace him with a band teacher to teach orchestra.

As someone to whom the music experience at Batavia was a critical and defining time, I find it so sad that they would do this! Music and the Arts are so incredibly vital for so many students—please retain the orchestra director!

This is abhorrent — Orchestra at Rotolo transformed my sons world. Rita was the orchestra director at this time ... my son is now at a prestigous music school and it started at RMS orchestra and choir program. He now attends Berklee school of Music. Shame on Batavia- a town that has bragging rights for amazing arts programming

Mr Griffith is a wonderful teacher. He will be a huge loss to the district and their students. He is one of the highlights of my 6th grader's day and my son has grown a great deal in both musicianship and self confidence as a result of being in Mr. Griffith's class. I think it is a mistake for Batavia to not have someone with a strings expertise teaching middle school orchestra. BPS101 is known for its strong music programming -- our music students become the leaders at BHS and beyond. Our district needs to do what it can to retain Mr Griffith as an asset to the program.

Surely there are other places to cut in your budget than to cut a much needed teaching position. Think about the needs of your students! This is such a shame for Batavia.

Hey Mr. Griffith! It’s been a little while! Remember to stay positive and everything will be ok. I’m trying to climb up to Symphony Orchestra and wouldn’t have the passion to do so without your help! I appreciate it and you have made me see music in a new light! I’m having lots of fun improving my technique and practicing more difficult music. I wish the best for you!
