Mr. Griffith is a much needed component of the music program. He deserves to stay because of his dedication and time he’s given for the music program at Rotolo .

My kids were not in orchestra but I do believe it is essential in our school system. Music matters. Gives kids a creative alternative to sports.

Dear Batavia School District, How could the removal of Mr. Chris Griffith as orchestra teacher and conductor at Rotolo Middle School, possibly be a sign of your good faith towards our children and future generations of Batavia children? In fact, it cannot. There is no possible way for this decision to benefit the children of Batavia, and is beyond foolishly shortsighted. For the Batavia School District to choose not to rehire Mr. Chris Griffith, would be an act of educational aggression against the children of Batavia. How can the school district be so out of touch?! Mr. Griffith brings so much to the musical educational table. He is tremendously engaging for the middle school children, meeting them where they are at, and encouraging a love of musical learning. His passion for music and teaching is event in his demeanor. This passion is infectious, and drives the junior high children to actually engage and enjoy the process of learning! You will see protests erupting at your offices if you insist on removing Mr. Chris Griffith from his position at Rotolo Middle School. Find somewhere else to save a penny. Removing an incredible teacher who will pay back our community, with his passion and devotion to teaching our children is complete insanity.

A strong orchestra program is important to so many students and families. Such a program gives students a place to belong, teaches students discipline, and enables them to excel both individually and as an ensemble. Having a strong orchestra program at the middle school level is essential, and this requires a highly skilled orchestra teacher. While a band director can teach notes, rhythm, and musicality, a specialized string teacher is able to teach the students proper technique and how to best use their own instruments to express their musicality. Please keep this much loved teacher.

Why not thin out the football staff? Stop sending so much money to AU for the STEM school. There are other areas to make cuts.

Eliminating a middle school position specialized in orchestra and expecting the orchestra program to thrive is ill-conceived. Just the opposite. Congratulations, Batavia Schools, you've sabotaged orchestra and pretty soon you won't need the remaining two orchestra positions.

All music Students at BPS will lose instructional time and Orchestra students are likely to be taught by a non-Strings teacher, a true detriment to a wonderful program, not to mention the loss of an inspiring teacher that connects and motivates orchestra students so well. I advocate for another solution that we keep Chris Griffith, a highly trained orchestra teacher.
