Bring Back the Fun at Fatima

Joy Day was a December tradition every year - first Friday of December. Christmas carols playing on the speakers, grade 8 students painting windows, doing crafts & stories with younger kids, hot chocolate for everyone & kids encouraged to dress as "festive" as possible. Gone. Thing of the past. This year, very last day before holidays begin, kids are allowed to wear red/green. Well, my child does not own anything red or green. Does that mean she is penalized & has to wear the navy uniform on that day? They have also stopped the freedom to wear what you want on out of uniform days; now it's a chosen colour. Boring...... There is zero fun at the school & I do not put this blame on the wonderful teachers at all. I'm thankful my daughter's teacher is taking it upon himself to add some joy to the classroom by putting up a Christmas tree, making balloon animals on their birthday and secretly giving out treats on special occasions. I don't know who is the chief decision maker behind all the negative changes but I think it's showing in the lack of parental support for fundraising etc.

I remember when this school had grass to play on its mostly mud now. The least you could do is bring all of this fun stuff back

This is extremely disappointing. Our old principle loved to see the children in orange and black and their Halloween costumes, and absolutely loved the Christmas concert! This is wrong!!!

no Christmas concert, no virtue of the month, no movie nights, no parties and treats, we are losing the fun and the sense of community.

This is absolutely ridiculous! Children look forward to these special occasions and to take it away is heartbreaking for them. Their only kids for a short time. Let them be kids and have fun!!

Some of my most wonderful memories are the Christmas Concerts. Every parent and child deserves those memories.

Can't believe what I read , seems wrong , kids should be able to enjoy the fun & a catholic school without the Christmas concert is crazy. Glad my 2 children enjoyed all this while they were there

Did not realize that they have uniforms now! It has been a while I guess. It's your right to relocate them to a more relaxed institution.

This school took a downward turn years ago when Mr.Ward left. This news isn't surprising. Our rights are continuously infringed upon in the name of political correctness. Liberty and freedom have been forgotten. I suggest dressing this kids in a new Halloween costume everyday for the next month. Unless the school has a previously instated dress policy, it is you and your child's right.

Glad to see someone took the initiative. I attended this school, and now my children do. I remember the Christmas concerts and the Halloween parties. It is part of the school experience. Taking them away with no discussion with the parents is just plain wrong.

My sisters, my neice and nephew and my son attended this school, with all the fun parts still in place. All have fond memories of these events and are better off having had the opportunity to experience them. Taking them away is taking the part of fun out of going to school!
