Bring back the 170 bus route in Battersea

In Battersea Sq we are somewhat cut off in terms of transport. The 170 is vital in connecting us as it is the only bus route running through.

Restore the 170 route

The lack of information and transparency from tfl is very poor. The area clearly needs the 170 route so a solution must be found.

Absolute Disgrace suspending the 170!

Another joke is all the new tower blocks being given planning permission on the premise that the infastructure is getting better and will easily cope with the increased number of people in the area. This highlights the reality.

If the 170 can't get under the railway bridge going westbound, why is the service apparently still going to be running eastbound??? What do we do, get off at the stop before the bridge, walk to the next stop outside Halfords, and pick up another 170? Or will the service be routed somewhere else entirely? Very bad news for the people who live and work on this busy route - especially the elderly and disabled of which there are plenty in Battersea. I thought TfL wanted to discourage private car use in London - this will have exactly the opposite effect. Rubbish decision.

More apartments being built need more public transport along Lombard Street, not less.

I am listing below the contact details for the TFL Area Manager for Wandsworth. He is an obstructive man who will not give out any details, claiming that it is not ‘company policy to talk to members of the public’. Bombard him with calls – he hates it! The reality is that TFL ordered the bus company to buy a new fleet of less polluting vehicles, and specified which buses they should buy. These new buses were able to fit under the bridge at Lombard road travelling towards Clapham Junction. However, the bridge is placarded max height 10ft, and these buses are 10ft5in high so the route has been diverted for ’safety’ reasons. My understanding is that the bus company and TFL are in dispute over who should pay the costs of rectifying this problem. Meanwhile we are left without the service. Entirely agree with all that the petition says.

This really is a joke, if its just the new buses that are the problem just reschedule them to other routes and give us back a useful service using the older models!

Keep the 170 bus route! I will organise a protest if you don’t listen to our views.

I live on the 170 route and do not own a car, I use this bus frequently when carrying shopping or if I need to get my 1 year old home in a hurry. With all the new developments in the area I would have thought we would need more bus services, not less!!!

I frequently used this bus service and totally agree that it is unacceptable that TfL have withdrawn it without notice and without providing an alternative.
