Stop sucking up to achens and thirumenis. They are sinners like everyone else.

Roy Achen was Youth Chaplain in Houston area from 2012-2015. Many achens have old parents, families, and children. They don't voice their complaints, they have to sacrifice, this is the job they committed to, for God's work. The Sabha takes care of the Achens, you are given salary, parsonage, bills are paid for, car is given, insurance is paid, and many other things. Wherever they are placed, Achens should humbly accept the call and serve the Lord. At least the church gives accommodation for Achens who are US citizens, they are placed in one of the parishes in this diocese rather than going to India or another country. I believe one thing the Mar Thoma Church should consider is allowing people from North America Diocese who are interested in ordained ministry to go to seminaries in the United States. Then after ordination as Deacon, they should be sent to India for 1-2 years mission work & training. Then only after they should receive ordination as Priest.

I heard this news with very heavy heart. Its time to adopt some changes in MTC moving Achens one state to other states every three years with family and children's. Its so disgrace that he did not get a chance to shepherd in his own state in last 17 years. Love to know the reason why? If he had desire to go with another plan I hope and pray he will keep going with it and nobody stop him. You take care the family first than others. May God bless him and his family.

With so heavy heart i am accepting this news. Love to know what was the reason he did not get a chance to be in Dallas. That is very disgraceful .Its time to adopt some changes transferring Acahens families with growing children one state to another state. Deep inside if he think its not for him -let him go as his desires and not let anybody hold him back.. Gods will need to be done and better for his family.

It's disappointing the church could not find a place for him - Jesus is a welcoming, understanding, and faithful God and the church is supposed to mirror that love.

We know no human is immune to errors; layman, clergy, and bishops included. However great souls understand their mistake and take action to correct. Pray for reconciliation and fruitful ministry for our achens! May God Almighty strengthen all during these times!

To take care of the next generation-we need strong leaders who can communicate with the youths & bring them back to church.

The goal of the Marthoma Church or any church should be to bring people to Christ and encourage a deeper relationship with Christ. Roy Achen was solely dedicated to this principle and it's a sad day for the youth and all Marthoma congregations!

This is in regards to Rev. Roy A. Thomas. I am not sure what is going on but would like to help in anyway possible. I read your response and just wanted to reach out. I am not martho however, I reached out to Rev. Roy Thomas for help and couldn't ask my own community. He immediately called me and spent hours with me on the phone during a very dark period. He literally counseled me, advised me, gave me insight, and made me feel normal. He prayed for me and with me. He helped a complete stranger like me and helped me spiritually at a time I felt so alone. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for him and his family. Tessy

After reading the petition and comments I feel that Roy Achen befooled the MTC for 17 years. His Ministry was his own profession to earn name and repute and of course respect and money. When the weather changed he showed his real colour and feather. This high profile Achen had no preliminary politeness to continue in the church in whatever position or place he is posted. He deserved excommunication and he too expected so. The Metropolitan did the right thing. I do believe that he was expelled after following the due process. Now Rev. Roy Achen is in his zone of comfort . Let him live a happy life with his Dr wife.

I don't know the Achan personally, but I have seen his personality in display on social media, and it's probably one that is attractive to many, but unattractive to others. He's often posting pictures which are not your typical Achan pictures - bhangra poses, wearing a jersey and "Yo, wassup!", keepin it real, and so forth. I initially found it a little odd, but from what I heard through the grapevine, he attracts a lot of youth with his style. Hey, whatever works. Who am I to judge? The church itself has a lot of corruption in it and tends to turn off the youth of today and even some of the older folks. So, if an Achan is giving positive vibes to the youth, I'm not sure why he should be excommunicated. Also, isn't the Christian religion one of forgiveness? That's one of the binding principles, is it not? The moment someone donates a buttload of cash to the church, they are forgiven in an instant. Otherwise, take a hike. I think the church needs to rethink this one. Not about reinstating the Reverend, but about reinstating their morals and principles. I think it's probably best for Reverend Roy to start his own church with his own style that appeals to that crowd. That being said, in the words of Reverend Roy Thomas - peace out, homies!

Hello everyone, my comments are not about Roy achen, but the sad state of our Marthoma sabha. Roy achen made mistakes, he should apologize and the church should forgive him. This situation gives an opportunity to evaluate our current faith. Point # 1. All of you go and find our Marthoma Messenger dated October 2015 published by our Diocese of North America and Europe and read an article by Rev. Winnie Varghese. Now go to your favorite search engine and find out who really is this Rev. Winnie Varghese. Giving this lesbian minister a platform in our publication is a clear indication that our leadership has been deceived by satan. Everybody active on social media and loves the true God, take this message to as many as you can. Hi leaders, Jesus walked and talked with sinners of every level, but He never compromised on the truth of God's holy Word, and He proclaimed to everybody, " Repent, for the Kingdom of God is at hand". Hi leaders, the automatic family or corporate salvation that you proclaim is against God's word ( read Ezekiel 18:1-32 ). Point # 2. Our leaders have gone far away from the truth of God's word by editing (adding or deleting to the original message) His message to please itching ears (2 Timothy 4:1-5). In the name of ecumenism, many are teaching a salvation by works (again, against God's word, read Ephesians 2: 8-9). Many of our parents and grandparents do not know the true essential doctrines of salvation, judgment, divinity of Jesus and the Word, after life etc. because they have been hearing a watered down gospel for many decades. Many of our leaders hearts are far away from Jesus ( Matthew 15: 8-9 ) and their only intention is to please every man/woman they meet. Point #3. I have heard from my grand parents about E. Stanley Jones, who faithfully proclaimed the gospel at the Maramon Convention for many years. All Christ loving Marthomites should ponder about how our church from the Stanley Jones era has come down to our present day title as

The first time he decided to leave, they did talk to him. The second time, they found out he had applied to another church. There was no opportunity to talk further, his mind was clearly made up.

Roy Achen left the church. There is nothing to support.

The young people who have had the displeasure of being "served" by Roy Achen would most definitely disagree.

So, you're disappointed in the church excommunicating Roy Achen, but you're not disappointed in Roy Achen applying to be an achen for another church in the area? Are you also proud that be was able to get a good education, extensive travel and housing paid for with the Mar Thoma Church's money only to decide to leave time and time again?

If Roy Achen is reinstated, I will start a petition to asking the younger generation to start a new church. One that does not give everything to one individual simply because he is the first to do something.

I don't know any Marthoma Christians who follow the pursuit of "wealth, power, and material possessions". Although, I guess you could argue that Roy Achen actually left the Marthoma Church to do exactly that. Yes, there are small numbers of people who do those things within the Mar Thoma Church. Unfortunately they are often more vocal and flashy than their peers. Even sader, they drive the young generation away by making it seem as though they are the majority. But we are ALL sinners, or we wouldn't need Jesus. Perhaps you should pray for those people instead of criticizing them on a forum for a petition to bring back someone who chose to leave the church that gave him everything.
