Purpling is an age old engineering tradition. This is something that shows how spirited a school is and it is essential that if you're an engineering school, you have the option to purple

Don't try to ruin this tradition.

Knowing a bunch of engineering students I know how significant this day was for the first years. Although there was damage to school property, there are easy ways for the school admin or the school security to prevent that from happening and cancelling puprple day definetly wasn't the best approach to this issue.

I don't even understand why this is an issue for the schools admin, if anything what they did is bad PR.

Please don't take away a tradition that only brings fond memories back when reminiscing about years gone by. This will ruin one of the most important days first year engineers will have to get familiar with their classmates before studies start to build up and confine them to the library and labs.

I think it's an essential part of school spirit to get people involved. To show them that school has the potential to be about more than just education. It's a life experience, and taking away the spirit of it is arguably crippling people's experience from the get go, that can have an effect on involvement in other things later on in life.

I'm second year at Carleton for civil engineering and dying myself purple was one of the best experiences I've had. I was able to meet so many more people in engineering and it really helps you make long lasting friends. It's a tradition that should could continue for many years to come for all engineering programs across the country

As a fellow engineering student at Carleton University, I can speak for how significant a day like this is to an engineering society and their students. Please don't take away these traditions that are rooted in not only the schools history, but engineering education as a whole.

Traditions are a good thing for a community, but keeping it environmentally safe and having the school stay clean is also crucial. I support the tradition, but I think the administrations concerns are reasonable.

This is an excellent tradition at LU and should be kept as such.
