Why are students babied and pampered as if they can do no wrong? This teacher has a gross invasion of privacy that will follow her around online forever yet she gets punished for it? These school "standards" are ridiculously skewed in the adolescent's favor and it's frightening. We are teaching kids that they can do know wrong, it's no wonder they don't fear authority when they can get away with anything nowadays.

Unfortunately things like this happen all the time in the school system where the corporation or the school board is only interested in protecting their assets and not their employees.

The teacher deserves her job back. A lot of teachers will leave there phone out like if they have kids and needs to make sure they hear the phone. This teachers life is ruined because of a 16yr. He knew exactly what he was doing. This affects her career and everything. This teacher should not have to be cooped up and without a job because of a 16yr that has no respect. Even though the district said they didn't make her resign . The district and the school made it so horrific that sh had to resign . Please give her job back.

I originally was not going to sign this petition because I do believe she is someone responsible for what is on her phone, of course with the student being mainly responsible. Until, I seen that she had forgiven him because "he's only 16 he'll make mistakes. We all make mistakes". She shouldn't be fired for something she realises was a stupid mistake, while forgiving the person who brought this on to her.

Disgusting use of power by the superintendent and school district. This situation and the way it was handled is reprehensible!
This student STOLE her personal property an intentionally humiliated her, and you punish THE VICTIM???!!

This is bullocks. The student stole her phone (theft), went through her personal items (invasion of privacy) and then posted to social media (intentional infliction of emotional distress) and the teacher gets sacked?! N***a, please. If I had done that at school, I would have been suspended. Possibly expelled.

To Superintendent Eubanks: It is ridiculous that you have placed all blame on Mrs. Arthur. You could have handled this situation with much more care and fair judgment. Unfortunately you reacted with a viewpoint akin to over 40 years ago, and didn't consider all the consequences. I strongly suggest you reconsider how you handled the student's punishment and Mrs. Arthur's dismissal.

It is shameful to discipline a teacher for a student's illegal activity. I would have you refer to recent (and successful) convictions and law suites of those responsible for stealing and posting such photos online. It would be EASY for the university to be found liable in a civil suit for damages against the teacher. It is also shameful that the student suffers no repercussions from the university for his illegal and disgusting behavior.

The student should be expelled and charged with theft and sexual harassment. This is not justice, this is a witch hunt.
What happened is rewarding for the students and will only encourage it to keep happening in the future.

I guess teachers aren't suppose to be human beings too? I mean really? Most would be happy she has a good marriage where she can flirt with her husband! What's next? Firing women for having babies because kids will know she had *S-E-X*? This is so backwards! It's the kids fault! This teacher didn't do anything wrong!! What's the difference between this and the student breaking into her house to take pics? Would they have fired her then too??

The superintendent is setting a poor example of accountability. Sometimes, teachers get called out of the classroom. I don't know if that's the case here, but this kid took it upon himself to steal her phone, and cause her trouble. This child needs to be held accountable for his actions so that he doesn't grow up thinking it's okay to steal, post someone else's pictures, and can get away with it.

This is basically a case of rape, and just like rape, the victim is being blamed rather than the attacker. The student should, at the very least, be treated exactly as any other student who stole private property. Had he done this to a student, I bet he would have been looking at a suspension.
