The teacher should expect the right of privacy in her daily job.The student had no right to invade her privacy (phone),no matter where the teacher was or what she was doing.The administrator should be fired for not doing his job and backing up his teacher in THIS SITUATION.Because cell phones are so common now there should not be an issue with the teacher giving her cell phone to students--with her permission..This particular student STOLE her phone and information on it,comparing this to the student stealing her wallet and the money contained in it. The student should be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. If this was my child,I would expect him/her to accept the consequences of their actions.This is what many parents/people will not do today...NOT MY CHILD they will exclaim.

I am a teacher and I am in a family of teachers. This district superintendent should be taken out of office, it can go by a vote. A district leader should be able to take responsibility for the actions of a school as a whole, including the teacher and student. Vote this person out if HE is not completing HIS job.

As far as the story is being reported this is an injustice. The fault is at the feet of the student, and children can be wrong at fault and need to be punished which is often not the case in our education system. Teachers authority needs to be respected and their role elevated not diminished by cases like this. Of course it was foolish without a doubt of this teacher to have this picture on her phone, and she is to blame for poor judgement and was punished enought with this story going public.

Mrs. Arthur is innocent in this matter. I as a fellow teacher know how hard classroom management is especially when you have students who disrespect you. This student disrespected his teacher. He should be punished and the Superintendent should have created a new cell phone policy for teachers: lock up your phone in your car or a closet.... Somewhere safe so nobody can steal it. That is all.

No wonder we're raising a nation full of spoiled, entitled youth. Kids are not required to take responsibility for their actions. This kid needs to have the book thrown at him so he/they understand that they've ruined one family's life for no reason other than sheer immaturity.

If so isn't there protection against this kind of invasion?

This is terrible decision by school system. The student performs a criminal act and teacher gets blamed. My wife is a teacher and I see this kind of stuff all the time. No support for teachers.

Behavior like this on behalf of an already beleaguered profession will assure that the best and brightest go nowhere near it in the future. The consequences of not supporting teachers will ensure that our future is not properly educated. It's a shame.

I believe that it is disgraceful for one person to be punished for the theft of personal & private information, if her phone was password protected or not. I don't use password protection on mine for ease of use, not so anyone could pick it up in a "trusted" environment & steal personal images from it. This student should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law & the teacher should be reinstated & receive a full apology as well.

Support from London, U.K. This lady needs her job back and the student dismissed as well as face legal consequences, for theft and sexual harassment. And the School Headmaster fired. (Where's the petition for that one?)

The student broke into teachers private property and broke the law. What that teacher does with her husband is her business. The student should be expelled and his name should be made public.

This is outrageous! Her life is forever altered because of this! There should be a suspension of this student for a long time, although she forgives him and he is young and we've all made mistakes before, he definitely knew better!
