Superintendent Eubanks should receive demotion or a more serious reprimand as it appears he's slandering as well as over-reacting.
The student should receive a few thousand hours of community service and a suspended (erasable) sentence pending a couple years of inoffensive behavior.

The student should be held responsible. He STOLE private property. If he had done that to anyone else outside of school he could face charges. The school is wrong on all counts in this situation.

David Eubanks needs to go! I do expect more from a backwards state like SC! Students have no respect and need to be taught by their parents. What happened to civics classes, oh we want to raise criminals. This is a backwards bible thumper state with snake worshipers!

The only ones who did wrong here were the student and the superintendent. The student stole personal property and illegally distributed its contents online. The student isn't even being punished by the school? And the superintendent had the nerve to blame the teacher for being a victim to an illegal and invasive violation of privacy? She had every right to expect privacy on her personal phone, and the picture was for her husband's eyes only. It's disgusting that the superintendent would let the student off scott-free (and even imply that any punishment the student faces by police would be the teacher's fault - because obviously no human could resist the urge to steal someone else's property and go through their personal information and photos, let alone stop themselves from uploading those photos on the internet).

The fact that law enforcement is investigating the student and not the teacher shows where liability lies in this situation. Wonder if the school district realizes hire successful a wrongful termination lawsuit would be for the teacher?

I'm a high school teacher, too, and I sympathize with Mrs. Arthur. Students need to know that there are consequences, and should learn not to steal another person's possessions.

Maybe a petition to remove the superintendent from office should be started if he really doesn't give a damn about the teachers an faculty. Don't berate the child, however, some form of discipline from the school should set the example that if you steal, there will be consequences. from what I have read it sounds like the child has been given an out from punishment from the school, but are going to let law enforcement handle it. What kind if superintendent is that?

What this student did was a crime. He had NO RIGHT to pick up her phone without her knowledge. Mr. Superintendent Eubanks, how would you feel if this was done to your wife...or child...or yourself for that matter????? YOU SHOULD BE FIRED FROM YOUR POSITION FOR STUPIDITY.

If the teacher had taken a student phone and looked for and found pictures without the students consent, there would be outrage. What is wrong with this picture? It is no different than if that student had taken her purse or wallet.
