This is a horrible situation. Union County Schools got this one backwards, they are punishing the victim, not the perpetrator. This was nothing more than a childish prank, but the kid who did it should still be held accountable for his actions. The school management should be backing up and supporting their teacher, not throwing her under the bus!! The other aspect that I don't understand about this is the implication that if a married woman takes a photo of herself to give to her husband, she is doing something wrong?!? What is Union County School District teaching? Is the school management teaching the children that the human body is sinful or evil? Where is the True leadership in Union County? David Eubanks is NOT the only authority on the question of Civil Liberties in Union County! He is just one person with an opinion making assumptions that will not hold up under scrutiny. Finally, the article says that, "The unidentified pupil told her after the incident that her 'day of reckoning is coming.'" That is a direct threat. The local police and FBI need to investigate any student threatening a teacher.

What a terrible student, with a terrible group of friends. Without consequences, these students will continue to be disrespectful.

The system seem to have punished the wrong person. Union County School should be ashamed of themselves. This is how good lawsuits happen!

If the story as told is true, the student(s) who stole her image should be prosecuted and expelled. And the teacher should get her job back immediately. AND, the administration that made this ridiculous ruling needs to examine what they think they're doing... And THEY should probably be "resigned."

A phone is not a dirty magazine - you can't pretend these images were out in the open in plain sight - they had to be obtained unlawfully first.

The teacher did nothing illegal nor anything wrong and was actually a victim of a crime. Now she has to pay with her job, because of your puritanical beliefs.

If Apple and the associated current judge on that case can say that the owner/user of a phone has the right to privacy, I would assume the same should be true here. The teacher is the owner of not only the phone but her photos as well. Retaliation porn is illegal in CA -- can this somehow be used in this case against the students?

Teach personal accountability and punish for theft. This teacher seems to be a good role model. Accepting responsibility, forgiving idiot kids and not focusing on her own embarrassment at sole benefit of those who wronged her which she forgave. What instead was learned now by the kids who stole her phone? They learned they can sexually exploit women and get away with it unpunished. Way to raise kids S.C.

The student STOLE a teacher's PRIVATE phone. She has a right to have photos of her nude body. The student, however, didn't have the right or permission to look at said PRIVATE photos and distribute the photos to his friends. If anything, this should be classified as a sex crime perpetrated by a minor!

As much as I want to sympathize with the teacher's situation, the fact is she opted to resign, and therefore she will never return to her job. It was her fault with her lack of judgment that she was forced out of her career. She will never teach again.

She deserves her job back and a public apology from this kid. He needs to be expelled and charged.
