This is SHAMEFUL! A woman's privacy has been illegally invaded by a student and you are punishing her. Punish the student. Hold him accountable. Bring her back.

This seems like a pretty clear case of stupidity on behalf of the school administration. The teacher is clearly not in the wrong here.

The teacher is the victim! The thief should be prosecuted sending sexually explicit pictures to minors!

From the information I have available, this teacher was the victim of a theft crime and is no more guilty of wrongdoing than someone who inadvertently leaves their house unlocked and is then burglarized. Unless the images in question were left exposed in plain view in a place to which the public has access or left unlocked in a place accessible to small children who might regard it as an attractive nuisance and to young to understand the phone as being personal property, the rendering of the contents of same in the public domain was a product of unlawful possession and thus excuses the teacher from culpability. Had a student accessed her phone without permission and found nothing of interest to his peers, it's unlikely the teacher would have met with such a severe sanction, if any at all. Given that she did, it also suggests that the administration seems unduly concerned with the content of the pictures and is acting primarily with a prejudice in that regard. Since the pictures purportedly contained immodest content reserved for her husband, anyone critical of same might be possessed of an unhealthy perspective regarding topics of an immodest nature. In my opinion, the fact that ordinary and common private behavior that occurs with regularity among a large number of married individuals was condemned with such ferocity suggests a seriously distorted perspective by someone in the administration regarding that type of behavior, possibly as a result of insecurity or guilt feelings over their own, possibly genuinely inappropriate or illegal sexual behavior. Guilty dogs typically bark the loudest, and punish others the strongest as a way of appearing righteous when they are not. The more fanatic they are about the issue, the greater the probability, on average, that they are hiding something they feel is wrong.. Consensual private media shared between married spouses is normal, healthy, and common. Treating same as a crime could constitute legal oppression,

This was a clear violation of Mrs. Arthur's privacy. As regrettable as it is, there is no need for her termination.

This is the pinnacle of stupidity on the school district's part. The superintendent should resign. Bring back the teacher!

The student should be prosecuted for distribution to minors, theft, etc and the Principal should be the one getting canned for this decision.

Nobody's business what the teacher has on her phone. Student should be punished for stealing and for sending explicit photos

Recently, at my new job security looked through my phone and when I caught them they were laughing. I know how it feels, embarrassment, shame, anger. I told HR and they told me "you should have had a passcode." No security shouldn't be looking. Stay strong, don't let weak minded people get to you. Power through.

This is no different than a cyber attack. As usual authorities that do not use common sense. Punish the victim....really? This country needs to clean house.

Uh, it was the KID who broke the law here. Punish HIM, not the teacher!

Punish the student (thief) for the crime, NOT the victim (teacher.) She did nothing wrong.

It is unthinkable that the school would desire her resignation as the result of a crime committed against her. The school is teaching the wrong moral standard to it's students and this teacher needs to receive a formal apology and offered her job back.

I think this is garbage. She may not have shown the best judgement by not setting her phones security, but holding her responsible for the actions of a thief is punishing the victim instead of the criminal.
