Parents need to teach their children to not steal. "Keep your hands to yourself" is what I was taught by my parents. The student STOLE the phone! That boy needs to be charged with theft! Shame on all you adults. What she has on her personal phone is her business.

This makes me sick. And if the superintendent can't see the error of his ways by sheer force of the people expressing their disdain, something else needs to happen!

This is why many great teachers choose to teach overseas. Ms. Leigh Anne, please look into the many great opportunities at international schools in Southeast Asia! You'll save more money, work way less and get the respect you deserve.

Why hasn't the student been punished? He is the one committing the crime here. Bring this teacher back and shame on you for punishing the victim.

This teacher did nothing wrong. HER phone, on HER desk. The student who took it upon himself to go through her property deserves the punishment. How is that not obvious?

For what exactly is she forced to resign? Her privacy is invaded, her own body is being used against her to shame her, and the real criminals are going unpunished? What is this?

It's very sad the world we live in where these children can get away with wrong doing over and over again..Us as adults always seem to have to pay for there wrong actions wake up America

I don't know her, but after reading her story on dailymail I can't help but feel so sorry for her. The argument that she should have kept her photos more "private" it's absurd because what teacher comes to school expecting for a foolish student to snatch up her phone and go through her things? Reinstate her! She'll never find another decent job with this on her record!

Having your privacy invaded, then being asked to resign is absolutely ridiculous. The student should face jail time and the teacher should be given compensation and an opportunity for her job back.

This is a disgrace that the teacher was forced to resign. She was patrolling the halls while her phone was probably in her desk or purse. The student took the phone, figured out how to get into it, and distributed property that was not his. The student needs to be punished. Sixteen years of age is old enough to know between right and wrong. Time for juvenile Hall for him, and at the very least detention, if not expulsion.

With this decision you are telling the students that it`s ok to make crimes and you wont be persecuted...

This poor women had her privacy invaded and she gets punished. Unfair, unethical, and blatantly unacceptable the student should be expelled and this teacher reinstated

Another instance of the Victim being the prosecuted. The student should be reprimanded not the teacher.

What the hell is wrong with the school board? She is clearly a victim, she shouldn't be punished in the slightest.

Saw this on the news. The student invaded her privacy. Could he do the same to her purse, her unlocked car at the school, her student papers stacked on the desk, etc., without consequence?
