That student, whoever they are, should be the one in trouble! I think the school board should also be taken to task.

A teacher's right to privacy does not end the moment she walks into the school. Outside of the school, the kids would have been brought up in charges, why should they be protected because they did it at school?

This is clearly the students fault. The School Board is just as guilty as the student.

The administrators at this school should feel ashamed of themselves. They are teaching these children that they have a power, and an immunity to consequences that no person should have. This was the easiest and laziest way out of this problem. The administrators in charge of her dismissal should both reinstate her and issue a public apology for their poor reaction to this injustice.

Totally Wrong! We all have a right to some privacy and a cell phone is personal property! The student is the one whom should be reprimanded.

It's hard enough to find people who sacrifice being underpaid and truly love to teach and nurture our children. I am praying that this teacher is able to find another school to continue her career that she worked so hard for at another institution that would punish her and foster the illegal, disrespectful, and immature behavior of students.

Personal items are personal items. This student should be punished for his actions. Kids are not held responsible for their actions anymore and that is why we have such an elevated level of crime, disrespect and drop out rates. This is not the teachers fault. She needs her job back, he needs to have charges and suspension placed upon him and she should be able to continue to live her life. I think that cell phones should not be allowed in the classrooms period by students and teachers should keep them out of sight in their desk or cabinet etc. This is not her fault at all. And to the boy that did this to her, your day too will come. I wish none of them harm or ill will but things have a way of coming back around. Remember this: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Put this teacher back to work today!

I sincerely hope the victim, Leigh Anne Arthur, is seeking legal action against this student, his family, the school district and the interim superintendent. I'm certain that members of the general public would be happy to fund such a lawsuit given the attention this story has garnered, if such a fund were to be created...

The student should be punished, not the teacher. It is a complete invasion of privacy and is not acceptable. The teacher has a right to have whatever legal content she wishes stored in her personal property.

WTF??!! You're blaming HER because a student was ABLE to KNOWINGLY violate her piracy and steal private content grin her phone???!! I guess if he was ABLE to get her car keys from her purse and drive off with her car, that works be her fault too? You people are unfair stewards of our children's education.

I do not belive that she should have been let go that was her private property and just because it was on her desk did not give that student or anyone else the right to touch it let alone go through her pictures and send them out on social media, the student should be punished by the school and law enforcement. !! To take someones carrer away because someone else did something stupid is just ludicrous.
Crazy liberal administration needs to be sued!
