Really, stealing is no problem? It's her private property. What she should have done is encrypt the phone, but this is what government wants to prevent (apple). What she does with her private live between her and her husband is her own business. Pupil commited theft end of story! Then He/She released photos that are not his/hers to distribute... How about some charged on that? The pupil also send part naked pictures to people, regardless of where the picture came from.. the PUPIL distributed the photos not the owner of the phone. If you want to get technical the PUPIL distribution was porn. Hang the pupil! Willing to bet you will ignore that fact!

The teacher should be reinstated immediately and the student should be suspended from school for theft and invasion of privacy. Vote for Trump

Teacher deserves her job back. Students responsible for stealing the picture off the teacher's private property should be disciplined.

Hi, I'm a reporter at Mic.com and I'm trying to reach the students who wrote this petition. Please email me at [email protected]. Would love to ask you a few questions. Thanks so much.

This teacher deserves her job back. She should have never lost it to begin with. The superintendent obviously not concerned with his employee's safety saying "she should have locked her phone." A lot of people should know that it's a stupid and pointless idea to lock your phone. It still can be easily hacked by finding the smudges on the screen caused by fingers pressing the numbers for the code. It doesn't take long to figure out a 4 or 5 number code to phone using this method. Also if you leave your phone locked and you're in an accident to where you can't communicate in anyway with nurses and doctors, they're not gonna be able to contact your family members. It's sad because there have been cases where a family has no idea their child or grandma was in the hospital for 3 days until they'd find them by putting out a missing persons report. All because the victim had their phone locked axed the doctors couldn't access it. So this student needs to be charged with violations of privacy and the school district needs to be charged for backing this disrespectful little crap head. It's everybody's right to have legal naked photos on your phone or on your wallet. Just because you don't do it doesn't mean others shouldn't. And as for phone privacy, I see it as a diary. I've never once touched my fiance's phone, and she knows she better not let me catch her looking through my phone without my permission. It's just as bad as grabbing someone's wallet and looking through it. Unless it's a medical emergency, none of this should happen.

What the 16 year old was an absolute invasion of privacy! She should be reinstated and an apology should follow. As for the 16 year old he should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

I am not a fellow worker, but a concerned citizen. If my device was left opened at a public, private and/or workplace, anybody who has the intention to look through my device without my permission, is considered a violator of privacy rights and/or of establishment policies. So if her boss leaves their phone open to the school then he or she would be out of a job? This ruling is needs to be considered very carefully. A bunch of constitutional rights have been violated and need to be corrected immediately.

Her privacy was violated and picture(s) were stolen. It's not like she had that picture or pictures open for all to see. The student(s) should be punished for acquiring and invading someone's personal property.

mrs. arthur 's photo meant only for her husband's eyes was stolen from her personal property. She should not be punished, and should be reinstated as a teacher.

The student is at fault, not Ms Arthur. Taking her phone and viewing any picture is the same as entering her house and scrolling through a photo album, or poking around her closet. Technology has changed the world, but the privacy values and personal responsibility should stay the same.

I support her rights to privacy and believe the student violate this and should be punished severely. What right did the student have to look at someone else's property?

Her privacy was breached. The pupil concerned should be investigated.

That student needs his ass beat. That's just plain evil and immoral. Disciplinary actions need to be brought against the student.

The Teenager should face juvenal court for theft of personal property and disseminating nude photo's over the internet. Not punishing a vindictive teenager who did this intentionally basically allows the child and his delinquent parents to continue their rain of domestic terror (bullying) on any unsuspecting victim.
