This is clearly an invasion of privacy where the victim is being blamed. Best of luck.

Ridiculous! Bring Mrs. Arthur back! The parents of that stupid kid should have a good talk with him!

We are all naked under our clothes. As a "doctor", you should already know this fact, Dr. David Eubanks. Punishing Mrs. Arthur is wrong. Maybe it is time that YOU are fired!

This student should face charges, the only reason this isn't being treated with the seriousness it deserves is because of the content of the photo. That has no relevance; her property was trespassed upon and unlawfully shared, not to mention the mortification and embarrassment she must be suffering due to this awful student's actions.

Why is the victim the one who is being punished? The student who stole the phone needs to be disciplined by the school, prosecuted by the law.

Why is the district blaming the victim!? The student who violated her privacy should be the only one punished. Good luck, Ms. Arthur!

I am disgusted at your county's treatment of teacher Leigh Anne Arthur, who was the victim of a crime. She had her personal property taken off her desk without her knowledge by a student who then took it upon himself to distribute personal pictures.
If this were to happen in any other situation besides your county's school the young man in question would have and should have been charged with a number of crimes including but not limited to defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional and/or negligent infliction of emotional distress, stalking, and harassment.
Instead of punishing the student who was obviously in the wrong your county decides to ask the teacher (a teacher who has been teaching for 13 years) to resign.
I find it appalling that your superintendent would accuse Ms. Arthur of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. There was definitely delinquency of a minor in this situation but Ms. Arthur was simply the victim of this minor, not the perpetrator.
What people choose to do in their private and personal time on their private and personal phones is not the business of the school or county; punishing someone for taking explicit photos because they were stolen by a student make little to no sense. She did not give those photos to the student, he chose to take her personal property and find them.
The fact that the school is currently not pursuing any kind of punishment for this student is even more atrocious. What would the school's response be if the student took the phone of another student and distributed his or her photos? Would you expel the victim in that instance?
The example you are setting for your students is terrible. You are sending the message that they can abuse and humiliate their teachers. You are sending the message to your teachers that they are not valued and that when they are abused and humiliated you will not defend them but instead add to their abuse and humiliation by asking them to resign.

The teacher did not deserve to be fired. If anything the student should be expelled and tried by the people for a computer crime.

The student stole, he is the one who should be punished. The teacher leaving her phone unlocked was stupid, but not enough to lose a job over. She did not hurt her students or violate her teaching ethics!

As to what I have read and currently know...
I do believe that there has been a mis-justice towards Mrs. Arthur by this student and the school district. I believe this is a case of the district jumping to be politically correct instead of holding the student accountable for his actions. The student is being taught that this type of behavior is acceptable. I am curious as to where the parents are and how they are going to address the issues with their son.
