Absurd that a private photo can be stolen and cause a teachers career to be ruined. This teacher should be reinstated and the student should be charged.

I'm at a loss for how this turned out. When does a public officials personal privacy get defended? This kid ought to be charged with something related to theft. And that should measure up to a felony, due to the fact that the teacher lost way more than 500 dollars. This kid is a sad excuse for a human being. Do the right thing.......give her the job back AND punish the kid who did it. God knows you should be able to get another student to attest to him copying the photo from her phone.

The interim super needs to be fired for incompetency - and the kid arrested for theft. The teacher should have had a lock on the phone, but if a car, purse, or briefcase is left open does that mean you're entitled to take things out of it?? No! It's still stealing.

The student violated numerous rules and no punishment? The teacher's phone is private property plus he threatened her. Then he gave it to anyone who asked. Why are we punishing the victim of a crime and not the criminal? She's a human being with rights.

That is completely backwards! I don't understand why the student did not face harsh consequences! It wasn't the teacher's fault.

It is rare in today's society that people are held accountable for their actions. The UC School Board is propagating this with the youth. The cycle will never end unless punishment is handed out for those guilty of a crime. This was hacking into someone's personal electronic device in its most basic form. Alonzo Knowles was arrested for doing just this to a bunch of celebrities. If this was my wife, I would personally sue the school board for not protecting her rights to privacy. The phone was picked up by this student for one purpose - his comment makes that evident. This young students parents would be sued next. Take notice school officials, you had better handle this correctly.

This school district's decision is unbelievable. Punish the victim and and let the criminals walk. Shame on those in charge.

The student thief should be punished, not the teacher. Mrs. Arthur kept the photo private, the school administrators are in the wrong. I sincerely encourage her to sue the student and possibly the school as well.

I'm mortified that the school is not disciplining the student. "He who is without sin should cast the first stone.

Came across this news article on The Blaze. Please explain to me how a student is allowed to violate the privacy of an adult faculty member. This is a blatant violation of her rights and she should be reinstated immediately.

The student should be punished, not the teacher. This should be obvious. The teacher is a victim and what the student did was a crime.

As a teacher, it is the responsibility of the school board to provide me with a safe place to work, and a place to store my purse and other personal belongings is a safe and secure area. These are expectations of most employees. These teachers should support their fellow teacher and strike until she is rehired and the contract includes provisions for security.
