This teacher should not have had to resign and should be reinstated forthwith if that is her desire.

This is complete BS. Yes, she should have had a passcode, but the student is completely in the wrong and should be punished severely. He may have cost this poor woman her future; she may not get hired in a career she will love again.

Mistakes happen and this clearly isn't a case of a teacher inappropriately having a relationship with a student. The student is in the wrong. Even if she left her phone for a few moments why was the student going through her personal property?

This is ridiculous she didn't do anything.

From the reported facts the teacher is entirely blameless, and being forced to resign from her position is unjust.

Teaching is a noble profession and Mrs.Arthur needs to be commended for choosing that as her profession. We all have private lives that need to be respected.Any person breaching our privacy should be punished, not the other way around where you victimize the victim. Not only should Mrs. Arthur's job should be reinstated but Dr.David Eubanks needs to resign and the student prosecuted.

The student should be held accountable to the fullest extent.

This is disgusting and that boy should be expelled. The teacher should not get in trouble for someone blatantly violating her privacy

Suspend that child. This is why kids are growing up disrespectful and entitled. I would file chargers. This should be a sexual crime.

These were not kindergarteners who stumbled on to these pictures- this was a person old enough to drive who stole private materials, threatened his teacher, and acted on his threat. He is entirely at fault- leaving her phone in the open was not permission.

She was violated once. It is tragic to violate her again.

Expell the students involved. Their actions were illegal as well as clearly morally wrong and it's insane that the teacher is being punished when she's the one who's been violated!

This is absolutely disgraceful! Every human being has a right to take whatever pictures of themselves on their cell phone. This student essentially stole the phone, stole the contents of the phone, then distributed the contents with ZERO accountability? Discipline? Shameful on this school system. Shameful.

Forcing this teacher to leave her job because of the illegal and malicious act of an ill-behaved student is completely ridiculous. I work in higher ed, and the implications this has for future incidents are truly startling. This is patriarchal victim blaming at its finest. Restore Mrs Arthur's teaching position, expel the student, and charge him for theft and anything else that sticks.

Blatant disrespect and invasion of privacy on the part of the student - he is 16, in high school and he knows damn well what he did and how it was wrong.

Disgraceful that her privacy is invaded and she is the one being punished!!! The pupil needs to be punished and shown what happens when you break the law! The teacher is the victim!!!

I hope she wins her lawsuit and gets another teaching job. It's not completely her fault and the kid definitely needs to be punished and taught a lesson about right from wrong!!!!
