How dare you punish a woman who has done nothing wrong in place of the malignant boy who violated her privacy? It's her fault for leaving inappropriate material on a phone thats easily accessible? I guess every phone connected to the internet should be confiscated at your school, as should laptops, as the internet has inappropriate material. Sexism at its finest. Mrs. Arthur is a victim who deserves justice.

I am utterly appalled that a teacher was penalized for a student STEALING HER PHONE and snooping through it. It was her private phone! In her desk!

This is the most absurd case of victim blaming I've heard in a long time. What is it teaching that kid, when he can steal someone's property, invade their privacy, illegally distribute that person's intellectual property, and the person you stole from is the one in trouble...

The school is setting up a precedent that causes harm to any teacher or administrator. To me the student stile that information and should be punished.

We Need stricter laws in this country against "privacy invasion". This kid needs to be punished for not only stealing the photo but sending it out to others. This is not a joke or funny by any means.

the student was in the wrong, not the teacher , rehiring the teacher would be the right thing to do , along with suspending the student.

This phone was not the student's property. Typically when you take something owned by someone else that is called stealing. So, in a sense, the teacher is being punished for the student's criminal act...

How is distributing nude photos of someone without their consent not sexual harassment? At the very least how is this not theft? Blatant sexism and misogyny from schools needs to stop or the overall climate of rape culture in this country will never change

A teacher who didn't break any laws should not be punished. This blatant injustice is just inexcusable.

She should not be punished for this kid's action. He was the one that stole personal property and distributed it without consent. he should be reprimanded for his actions.

While it might not have been the wisest thing to not have her phone password protected, Ms. Arthur has done nothing wrong and certainly nothing illegal. Everyone has a right to privacy, and that student violated hers. It is he, not she, who should be punished by both the school and the law. Ms. Arthur deserves her job back and has a legitimate right to a civil suit against the school and the student(s) involved.

Her expectation of privacy was violated . Common sense says she should not be punished.

Doesn't that seem a bit dramatic to you for a preventable action? I don't mean to advocate for someone who did wrong, but really?

This educator has been the victim of sexual harassment and a complete invasion of privacy. The school district should be ashamed of treating one of their teachers with such blatant disrespect.

She should be reinstated and NO ONE IS DEBATING THAT, but many of you fail to see that this action could have been prevented. Was the student wrong? Yes, by all means. However, in terms of him being "under investigation", why this small action constitutes a dog and pony show of such dynamic proportions. Although it was wrong, everyone arguing on this page that the student be punished to the fullest extent of the law, that's ridiculous. I mean, everyone, really? Some of you sound like you want this kid sent to the chair! "Sociopathic student"???? Are you kidding me?
She was the victim here.
