The superintendents actions were grossly misplaced. This was PRIVATE information that was stolen and the student should be prosecuted.

Student commited several crimes in addition to invasion of privacy. We DEMAND he be punished by school & charges filed against this juvenile delinquent!!

any student would have gotten in trouble for snooping through a teachers desk or computer, let alone a phone. or if a student circulated a nude of a classmate, action would have been taken immediately. god forbid a woman, an adult, have a happy relationship, that contain intimate photos, in her phone.

clearly this teacher was the victim , if one commits a breaking and entering into your home it is clear , same goes for your car, same goes for your private phone !!!! the administrators are way out of bounds here .... the student should be reprimanded or even have legal charges against him.

This is so wrong what happened to this teacher (if the information provided is correct). The student is to be blamed and given a good lesson. Carrying a half - or even fully naked private picture is inside your phone is by no means a crime: American's are such moralists with everything that relates to sex, but remember that an inverse correlation has been noted between teen pregnancy rates and the quality of education in US states...

This student is guilty of theft, breaking and entering, and distribution of porn. Where the hell are the police and admin?

I don't even live in your state, but I think she should get job back and the student prosecuted with jail time.

The teacher should not fired or punished. The rat bastard student should be expelled and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. School board should be fired. Despicable!!

If I leave my door unlocked and I get robbed, the thief is still the one that goes to jail. But apparently when your privacy and body are violated by an entitled punk it's all your fault. Faith in humanity lost. Save this woman

This student was old enough to know exactly what he was doing, and even proved it when he said that statement to her. The teacher was not at fault in any way. Punish the correct person! Respect other people's property! Protect the people who spend their lives teaching ungrateful students who think they have a right to destroy lives!

This appears to be a weak administration; they tend to lie down and not support their teachers.

This poor woman! She is a victim, not a perpetrator, and yet she is the one who is punished? What message will this send to the youth who did this to her, his peers, and now every impressionable mind who encounters this story? Sure it would have been best to keep her phone locked, but would you tell a family who was accosted in the night that forgot to lock their door that they were responsible for such an attack? Or that they should be the ones to go to jail? There is also nothing inappropriate about the images; we live in a technologically advanced world now, but before this was our reality, surely no one would be forced to resign for sexually engaging their spouse in the privacy of their own home, even if a door was left unlocked, or a window not entirely closed, and a student took and distributed pictures, right? That student would be in juvenile hall or jail! Please reinstate this woman's job and deal with the student accordingly (expulsion, at the very, very least). She is a victim, and this does not reflect well on Union County or Union County High School.

Wow. This is awful. Why is the teacher being punished for what's on her phone, when the student isn't facing punishment for invasion of privacy and essentially theft of the photo?

This was a complete violation of her privacy by a student. She is not the one at fault. This student needs punished and to learn consequences. My heart is behind Mrs. Arthur.

The student blatantly threatening a teacher and invading her privacy should be punished. This is a sex crime and should be treated as such.

I think it should be the Principal who lose their job. This is ridiculous in the of 2016.

It is absurd that they asked for her to resign. The student should face consequences. It is her phone and she is allowed to do what she pleases to do in private. If she were to send the pictures or show the students that would be a completely different story.
