I'm absolutely unclear where this teacher did anything wrong. Privacy is just that - private. If a student basically breaks into a private phone and steals something off it it, the owner of said phone is not at fault - but the student SHOULD BE. Situations like this make it clear why the teaching field will continue to be in decline...

After this incident, schools should add into their curriculum about teaching consent!

Her privacy was invaded, nothing more. While her act of negligence by leaving her phone unattended and unlocked should be reviewed. These acts should never results in her looser her job. She is not the one that committed a crime.

I agree 1000% with this petition. It's Preposterous. Unjust. A blatant TRUMPISM. Nothing to do at all about the photo, but what about ANYTHING personal, private, confidential she had on HER PRIVATE PROPERTY. The lack of respect kids have for authority figures is appalling. There is no law against what the teacher did on HER PRIVATE PROPERTY phone. What does this "teach" the students??? What is this world coming to???

The student is guilty of theft and harassment, end of story. The teacher is not to blame for the student's crime, she is the victim.

Give this lady her job back. She was doing her job and the student shouldn't have been nosey and go through her personal phone .

The 16 yr old boy needs to be prosecuted on grounds of criminal trespassing. .and all students who shared the photo should be disciplined as well.

David Eubanks should resign.

Ridiculous that that student hasn't been charged. How is that not theft?

Superintendent David Eubanks made a real dimwitted and unscrupulous decision in pushing for Leigh Anne Arthur's resignation. He also made an irresponsible one for not holding the student accountable for what is an illegal action, lacking all common sense. Superintendent David Eubanks should either be pushed to resign, or undergo a review which could see him fired, while Leigh Anne Arthur should be reinstated. The kid should be criminally charged.

I had her as a science teacher in 4th grade, and a main teacher for math and science in 6th grade. She is a wonderful person, and she cares very much. And you know what? She is right, most of us do have dirty pictures because we are human beings, what is wrong is that a student TOOK her phone, and did this. All because he was mad that he sucked in her class.

The students responsible illegally accessed her electronic device and directly impeded on her right to privacy. She should not be treated as the perpetrator. Password protection on personal devices may be a prudential future administrative policy. The students in question could just have easily used nudes from a website, her phone was just as easy to use as their own. The notion that she contributed to the delinquency of a minor is preposterous. This was obviously an attack on her social and professional life.

I cannot believe the school did not defend the teacher in this situation. This is a blatant violation of her privacy. This kid's parents need to step up and discipline their child's actions. What kind of parents would sit back and think this is an appropriate act. I hope for some karma down the road for this kid and his enabling parents.

Mrs. Arthur is a wonderful teacher. My son had her in 6th grade and loves her. I also attended school with her. She is a very sweet person.
