She should not be fired for this. It was the students fault.

See to it that that dastardly delinquent gets the punishment he deserves. ~12th Grader from Frank W. Cox High

For some reason, this society continues to punish the victim and not the one who victimizes. Expel the kid and give the teacher her job back. Simple.

I would like to say that this women is an amazing and very intelligent lady. She used to teach at my school some years back and when I toured the highschool as the whole 8th grade does every year, I was intending to take her class because she is a wonderful person and by far one of the best teachers in union county. Now that she has resigned due to the delinquency of a student I no longer intend in taking that class. Mrs. Arthur, I hope you get the justice that you deserve and I hope everything works out for the best.

Terminating her is ridiculous. Maybe a suspension, yes. Not holding the student responsible for his actions is ignorance. He should be suspended and criminal charges pressed against him.

This woman did NOTHING wrong. The STUDENT should be held accountable for his illegal and deviant actions, including criminal prosecution and expulsion. To say that it is HER fault is the same as saying a woman wearing a certain type of clothing is at fault for getting raped. SHAME ON THE SUPERINTENDENT AND BAD STUDENT.

This teacher deserves her job back. Her privacy was violated. We should defend a woman who cares enough about her husband to take a sexy pic for him for Valentine's Day. Teachers deserve a personal life. The students involved should be punished.

I think she should come back, she didn't do anything wrong. People can take whatever kind of picture they want. As log as they are the appropriate age. Which to me, I think the child should be punished severely.

I'm a teacher and I'm sick and tired of letting the "inmates" run the prison! WHAT other job allows the "employees/students" to tell the bosses/teachers what to do, and how to act in private life? If I took my Principal's, Superintendant's or School Board members' phone and posted ANY of their personal information or pictures online what would happen to me? I'd be arrested and out of a job! This kid deserves to be expelled for theft and his parents need to be sued! I hope you get a good lawyer Leigh Anne and hit the lawsuit Jackpot!

Ridiculous that this is even an issue. How the teacher can be penalized for private pictures that were absconded without her knowledge is a pathetic lack of prioritization as to what issue should be the focus of the investigation. This child should be at the least reprimanded, at the most expelled with possible legal repercussions. Ridiculous.

This is ridiculous! It was personal and the student should have been suspended for their actions. This is what lawsuits were made for. I hope the teacher can find closure and be at peace.

This just seems like more bureaucratic inability to use common sense. I thought our society had moved past blaming the victims of the crimes - - - - for the crime! Our schools have been teaching this moral and ethical principle for at least a generation. Is this school board obtuse or did they all simply miss that class?

This was a human rights violation. Schools are supposed to be making lives, not destroying them. As a parent of 2, I would pull them from the school in a heartbeat. Best of luck to you, Leigh. I will share this with everyone I can.

This teacher should have her job back, & the student should be punished! What is this world coming to when kids can misbehave & not face any consequences!!

Coming from a family of educators, I find both the responsible student's and the district's behavior completely and utterly reprehensible. Regardless of the nature of their relationship, by accessing private material without consent, the student has clearly committed a criminal act. If he had gone into her unlocked car our home, taken private photos or other private documents, and distributed copies among the student body, there would be no question of criminality on his part. Why should her personal cell phone be any different? I say that due to the nature of the photos and the fact that the student is 16, he ought to be charged as an adult under any and all applicable sex crime statutes.

Its incomprehensible to think that someone can invade Mrs Arthurs privacy and essentially steal private information off of her phone. If it was her credit card would she have been fired? If it was her bank account information? The 16 year old should be treated like an adult and held responsible for this breach of privacy and decency and Mrs Arthur should be reinstated immediately.
