I agree that the student is wrong, you do not touch anything that don't belong to you. And how dare the school say that the teacher was not properly supervising the students, like seriously? Stay strong keep fighting you will be in my prayers.

Just saw this story on GMA. This school system needs to do the right thing and bring this woman back to work with back pay or face serious consequences. If not I hope she sues and gets a lot. Including the unpunished student.

David Eubanks should be fired and never allowed to work in another position with decision-making authority.

Stop coddling our youth. He stole and then committed a malicious act. Discipline him and then demonstrate a modicum of leadership by faithfully supporting the teacher.

What happens between a married couple has nothing to do with a school district. That kid should be punished not her. She shouldnt Have to put a passcode on her phone. Its her own property. He violated it and her.

Teacher did nothing wrong. Cell phone is private property and she can have whatever pictures stored she wants. The kid is the one who should've been suspended if anything. To me this is no different than braking into a home and going they your stuff.

Her privacy was invaded. She should be reinstated, the student should be disciplined, perhaps even prosecuted legally.

As an educator from NY, I am absolutely disgusted by this, and I hope this teacher finds justice, and that the school takes the appropriate action of disciplining the student who was at fault.

The student had no business taking the teachers phone.

Don't blame the victim.

What a crock. The punk steals her phone, she loses her job and the little pile of garbage is still in school?!! This is a travesty of just in the worst degree. The creep should be in jail and the teacher should get her job back, nothing less.

Sex abusers should be severely punished. The sex abuser picked up and searched his victim's private property as if he was picking up her purse and opening a paper envelope with the photo inside. This is also intellectual property theft because the teacher has the copyright of the photo she took of herself. I am horrified at superintendent David Eubanks' total disrespect for women that would lead him to blame the sex abuse victim rather than her abuser.

Expel the Teenager and reinstate the teacher. Anything else is a sham and a terrible example of behavior correction.

That student violated her rights to privacy. Blaming the teacher just enables more students to continue to disrespect teachers. The superintendent should be ashamed of his decision to punishing his teacher for the actions of a 16 year old who knows the difference between right and wrong.

Although she should've realized to have her phone locked because people in general do not value others privacy or personal property; this does not warrant her job being terminated and career possibly being ruined. Even though at 16 everyone lacks good judgment at times, he should've known what he was doing was wrong and should be facing disciplinary action by the school at minimum. The picture was not intended for him or any other student to view. If someone is working at a store, steps away from the register and someone else comes in and breaks the register to get the money inside; it's not the employees fault. It's the criminal that is held responsible. The student made the decision to pick her phone up and open it. He had no valid reason to even touch her phone.

The student needs to be punished by a court of law. This is a horrible crime against her and an invasion of her privacy.

I think its sad that they punish a great teacher for a student that thinks everything should be handed to him and he can do no wrong. Sorry to say that this kids parents need to man up and be parents. TIme for some hard discipline, come on really who would let their kid get away with this seriously.
