This is unacceptable in this day and age. If the student stole her phone and broke her trust by going through her personal gallery and sharing it with the rest of social media, how is the teacher (the victim) being blamed for the low morals of a teenager? The student should face serious consequences. Had that been in any other setting, the student would face the law. This should be no different. Teachers are humans with lives too. They face enough difficulties today without having to worry that someone might steal their phone (something EVERYONE has) and have to worry about losing their job due to a spineless superintendent.

No one should be fired for something like this unless it was proven she gave him the phone. The kid should be punished to send a message to children that it's not appropriate. I hope another school district hires this teacher.

If u don't protect ur teachers... no one will want to be one... if u let this kid get away with this... he will think he will get away with other things... until he is actually caught n old enuf to be sent to prison... then he will blame u for not educating him... u let ur teacher down... lost the faith all ur teachers had in u... n u have let a child down... instead of taking this opportunity to teach him right.. u took the easy route of protecting him... for now...

Her private phone was taken and things were done with it without consent. It would be like someone taking photos of someone taking a shower and then releasing them, and the person in the shower loses their job.

People have the right to privacy, and the right to share what they wish with their intimate partners. Ms. Arthur had every reason to expect that her private communications and pictures would remain private. She was the victim of a student's poor judgment and impulse control. The student violated her trust and privacy, and that was the only wrong done here. She is being treated as if she autographed copies of the picture in question and handed them out to her students. Absolutely ridiculous and wrong.
