Someone being punished for a theft happening to them isn't right.

I agree with other commentors. This isn't a "simple mistake." It was a string of conscious decisions. Opening the phone, looking at her pictures, taking a picture of a private picture, then distributing that picture. This is no "simple mistake." And if any 16yo claims to not have anticipated the repercussions of his actions, then he is lying. You kids know how the internet works better than anyone. Put him in jail.

This is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. I feel so bad for this teacher and I hope this petition helps her in some way.

When Mrs. Arthur entered the classroom, the student said her "day of reckoning" has come.
Complete garbage.

The staff said she was "in the wrong" because her phone had inappropriate photos on it and was left unlocked on her desk. By that logic, she would also be "in the wrong" if her car was unlocked and had inappropriate photos in the glove box. Or if her house was unlocked and she had inappropriate photos on her nightstand. And a student decided to illegally break into her car/home.
Whatever staff decided to fire her are obviously prudes, nothing more.

The kid should be held for violating her personal property... He is the one in the wrong - not the teacher!

The student needs to be disciplined before his aggression towards women becomes dangerous.

"Everyone makes mistakes?!" He RUINED her career! He DESTROYED her privacy! He PUBLICLY SHAMED her for her sexuality! Do you seriously consider this to be a simple mistake? Opening someone else's mail is a simple mistake. Breaking into their phone, stealing nude pictures, and posting them online is a CRIME! He did it with MALICIOUS INTENT! He is a CRIMINAL! Would you be so quick to defend this student if he did the same thing to your mother or even YOU? If someone plastered naked pictures of HIM online, would you be as quick to defend the person that did it?! I doubt it. As children, you obviously don't comprehend the damage that has been inflicted upon this woman FOR THE REST OF HER LIFE. And you obviously don't comprehend the anger that the public HAS A RIGHT TO FEEL towards this cruel, self-centered, and disgraceful individual.

Student was in the wrong, not the teacher, don't ruin someone else's life/career over the actions of a delinquent.
