As a teacher who also has *gasp* a sex life, I find this ludicrous. Is this the 1800s?

Any person who reacts with forgiveness and sincerity to the crime that was perpetrated against her, deserves forgiveness and sincerity. Seriously, this isn't a gray situation. Further victimizing someone who is already a victim of humiliation like this says the wrong message to both the victim and all others involved. If there is any concern for the students and faculty, Lee Anne Arthur needs to be relieved of guilt and responsibility. Paid severance if she cannot resume her position, and given the opportunity to find a new job.

The kid should be expelled for invasion of privacy, as well as publishing pornography as a minor over social media.

It is unreasonable to punish a teacher for the unethical behavior of a student. And it is a disservice to the student that they were not punished swiftly.

Give her her job back and suspend the kid. What kind of world is this!?

It's ridiculous she got fired, and the student left unpunished. THE SECOND THE STUDENT TOUCHED HER PHONE, HE WAS DOING SOMETHING WRONG

I am all the way in California reading about this sad situation. This teacher deserves to be reinstated. What an embarrassment.

Student should be punished, not her.

It's sad that we have to have a petition for this....really sad. Honestly, I hope she gets her job back, but if she's smart she'd look for employment elsewhere with more reasonable people in charge.

The teacher deserves her job, a raise and an apology. The student deserves disciplinary action,

The only way the school board can redeem any dignity is by reinstating Mrs Arthur.
