The student was in the wrong. Punish the student, give the teachers job back.

Unbelievable, that child should be disciplined for taking her phone off her desk and going through it and shared with the whole school that was her private phone,in my day you wouldn't be able to get away with that behavior it doesn't matter what was on it,the children of today get away with far too many things,it's no wonder that the children get away with too much

Absolute nonsense. The correct decision here is very clear - make it.

Those teachers rights to privacy were protected by the constitution. The moment that student picked up the phone and unlocked it, they violated those rights. It is ridiculous that she is being forced to resign when she has done literally nothing wrong here.
As a college student studying to become a teacher in the next two years, this absolutely terrifies me.

What a classic case of victim blaming. Those cowards in charge at this school should be ashamed for defending the actions of a boy who is the path to being a sexual predator.

This is completely absurd. This is like punishing someone for leaving their home unlocked, and having a burglar steal a camera with racy photos.

This is clearly a violation of privacy. It can also be called "Revenge Porn" just by the intention alone, in most states that is very punishable.

A blatant miscarriage of justice. How dare they take this action.

As usual, the school punishes the innocent because it easier to do. And the children prove, once again, that they are the ones in charge.

This is absurd! The school board is setting a very poor example to all of the students... that you can illegally invade someone's privacy and there's nothing wrong about it. WOW! How dare you people respond like this when you are supposed to be setting an example for these students, not encouraging this behavior!

This is appalling. We are punishing the wrong party here. This is outrageous and the fact that student is not facing punishment outside of the school is beyond me. The teacher should be reinstated and the student should be expelled.

Bring the teacher back. There was a blatant attack on her privacy, and she's being punished for it. Absolutely asinine.

The logic of her firing is analogous to, "Your house was unlocked. You're going to prison because a burglar broke his leg on your stairs." The student has clearly violated her privacy and should be disciplined to prevent future actions. This is a form of sexual harassment on the part of the student, and if the district was worth any of its salt, it would protect its employee. If the district does not reinstate her then it should compensate her for the lost job.

It is clear that the student is to blame. I'm sure she would not come back because of the embarrassment it has brought upon her but she should have ever right to do so if she want's.
Give her her job back you prudes
