Ms Arthur is the victim here. Her phone was stolen and her privacy violated. How dare the school system insist on her resignation??

I teach and cannot imagine what she is going through. While I do lock my phone and PC, she is the ONLY VICTIM here. I'm very sorry this happened and hope the student is punished.

It's the students fault the parents and himself need to learn to respect others space and privacy the teacher doesn't deserve to loose her job over this everyone's got their own private life no matter your profession...

This is just so wrong! The student committed a CRIME by not only theft, but invasion of privacy! Her reputation and life has been forever damaged! She is not at fault in any way here! Pictures she has on her phone are her right. She was not taking pictures of students or taking pictures of anything illegal. These were pictures to her husband, for crying out loud! I could understand if she was posting those private pictures online for others to see, then she should not be teaching. But these were PRIVATE , and should never have been made public by a stupid, immature student, who thought it would be funny to ruin someone's life. Reinstate this teacher immediately!

I think that this was just wrong by the student. Mrs. Arthur has every single right to have what she wants on her phone. I think that the kid who did this was cruel to do that. Its not even your phone to be going through photos on. Mrs. Arthur has the rights, and im sure that she had no intention on a child seeing the photo in her phone. I hope Mrs. Arthur gets reinstated, she seems very dedicated to everything about teaching. Not many teachers are that that anymore. So like she said it was a mistake, and everyone has a right to make mistakes.

The superintendent and the school board might want to cut their losses and reinstate the teacher with full pay to avoid the massive lawsuit that is surely headed their way any second now. I'll lay anybody money that the city's best employment lawyers are knockin down her door as we speak.

These KIDS know right from wrong. She sounds like a great teacher. Keep her there although she probably no longer wishes to work there knowing her bosses don't have her best interest at heart. Wouldn't blame her.

This is outrageous! The student violated the teacher's privacy and then committed a crime on top of it. Return her to full employment status and suspend the student with community service. Teach the real lesson here. Women are not objects, students are responsible for their behavior and schools need to treat teachers and students like human beings. Does she have a union? Are they fighting for her? There is no just cause for dismissal and the pressure the resign is misguided.

This is unacceptable . These were private pictures sent to her husband. This student was obviously not brought up by parents to do the right thing . Shame on this kid, shame on the school district and shame on the parents for raising such an inconsiderate animal. Give the woman her job back!

She has done nothing wrong! That student needs to be punished for what he did. What kind of example are you showing him by saying it is okay to steal others property? The superintendent obviously shows he does not care about his teachers. If he doesn't support them, he will lose many many valuable teachers.

The phone was personal property, and with it, the presumption of privacy. If a teacher demanded a phone from a random student and went through their photos, that would also be an invasion of their privacy. The teacher is blameless and the kid was in the wrong, perhaps even criminal. Do the right thing and offer her her job back.

It's reasons like this less and less people are going into the teaching profession. Teachers are over-worked, under-paid, and blamed for things parents used to be held accountable for in the past. Would she have been fired if the student had stolen her wallet and distributed money? Or stolen her car because she left her keys out?

I'm a teacher myself (in Germany) and I always try to take my personal belongings with me when I leave the classroom. Anyway, it's a shame the school doesn't stand up for their colleague in this case.
