To take the words of another redditor (OurEyesArentReal), with this logic we might as well say . . .
"Your car was unlocked. We're going to punish you for the accident that car thief got into."
"Your house was unlocked. You're going to prison because your dog attacked this burglar."
"Your clothing was too revealing. We're going to pardon the rapist that took advantage of you."
Shame on the school for punishing a teacher for something that was not her fault. Punish the student.

Disgusting. Theft and breach of privacy - a crime on his part. Where are his parents?
I hope this foolish kid is punished rightly.
I hope this foolish kid learns respect, that other humans are self-aware just like him.
More so, I hope for the reinstating of Mrs. Arthur and some serious self-reflection from the idiotic administration.

I cannot even wrap my head around how the teacher should be the one disciplined in this scenario. I hope her entire career is not jeoprodized over this incident of a child not knowing how to respect other human beings and their property.

As a fellow teacher and professional, I am horrified that a well-beloved teacher could be fired because of an invasion of HER privacy. This is ridiculous. What kind of puritanical, self-righteous school system could possibly view her as being in the wrong? Where are our sanity and common sense?

The child who committed this terrible act should be severely punished. You are teaching him that it is "okay" to take advantage of people by doing nothing about this situation. He needs to learn that this type of behavior is WRONG.
