Why should someone be fired for their personal life? She was wrongfully fired and the district knows it! Compete invasion of her privacy and then she gets slapped in the face after. Congrats to the district for being completely ass backwards. GIVE HER JOB BACK!

The school board has lost its common sense on who's at fault in all this.

This cannot go unnoticed. This is unlawful and immoral.

Awful circumstances, but even worse outcome.

Really crappy student. Must've held a grudge against her to do something as nad as this.

Teachers should not be held to an insane standard of monk-like austerity in their personal lives nor should an illegal invasion of their privacy that reveals their private life be any blemish on the teacher's career or person. The only wrong here was that the student felt the audacity to touch and go through another person's private information and share it.

I'm absolutely baffled that she got fired for a kid stealing her phone and going through it. Like what?!

the admins at this school are the ones who need to fired (and publicly flogged)

That kid should be held responsible for his actions, not the victim (Mrs. Arthur).

Punishing the teacher is giving the wrong message not only to the student who did an egregious attack on her privacy, but all of the other students at the school as well. An adult, with a personal phone, in her private things should not be questioned or punished. Unbelievable.

An unlocked phone is not an invitation to invade someone's privacy. Bring the teacher back and discipline the student.

How this teacher lost her job boggles my mind. Get her back and punish that student for invading her privacy!

An unlocked phone is not an invitation to go through her things, just as an unlocked door is not an invitation to break into a house. This teacher deserves her job back and a huge apology, and the student needs to have some type of suspension for his actions as they seemed more malicious than curious/innocent for a 16 year old.

That a person should be fired for having their privacy violated is outrageous.

Not her fault.

The kid should not have picked up her personal phone in the first place.
