Do the students run this school?

While the teacher made the mistake of not protecting her phone, she did nothing deserving of termination. The student on the other hand needs some form of punishment to show that this kind of behavior is not to be tolerated. The school should be ashamed of its actions. We have too few female engineers as it is and you fire one trying to teach others about it. Shame on you.

This poor woman was the victim of an assault of her privacy. When this happened to Jennifer Lawrence, the world was up in arms. But when the phone of a teacher is illegally broken into, she gets punished? The kid who did this to her needs jail time for his crime and she needs to be reinstated immediately, with full public apologies from the school. What a teacher does with their free time is their business, and the students and faculty of the school have no rights to attack them for it.

This student would be in prison if he were an adult and a took banking information.

Expel the boy who effectively stole someone's property and then made public their personal information. Firing a teacher for the wrongs of a teen. Disgusting act of cowardice by the board, they should lose their jobs due to wrongful termination.

Bring her back. No, she's not perfect. You aren't, either. She is a compassionate, wonderful teacher from everything I have read about her. You can't afford to lose someone like her. Put her student in jail for distribution of pornography and trespassing and theft.

Deserves compensation for wrongful dismissal; student deserves 2 years probation and mandatory counselling.

This teacher should never have been fired for taking photos in her private time, and for having her privacy violated by a student. Expel the student for being hateful and using the woman's body to shame her.

Kids an idiot, rehire the teacher.

There are two issues here that bother me, first and foremost was this wonderful sounding teacher being fired, and second is the student involved has faced no discipline. She forgives him, and I hope she forgives the school board when she is reinstated.

This was a theft of personal property. The supreme court has ruled that the contents of a digital device such as a phone is protected by the 4th Amendement. Even though this constitutional protection applies to government intrusion, it is questionable that the employer could use this information garnered by a criminal act as a reason for discipline.

I would like this signature to mean something. I would hope it makes a positive impact on this teachers life and helps to support her in her efforts to educate young minds in this rapidly changing world.

Give me a break, this is a load of nonsense. Are you that blind to see that it's the student who is at fault here. How on earth are you not going to punish him for this, is this how you want to bring up children in the school system now? Grow some balls.

Re-hire the teacher. Not her fault and her privacy is her own business. Re-hire her and expel the student.

people need to learn boundaries and consequences. I feel sure that Ms. Arthur has learned that in her lifetime and is a very trusting person.
