If a student grabbed a Teacher's car keys, wallet, or even medication, they would be disciplined; this is no different.
That student took a superior's personal property prior to their knowledge and tried to use it against them. The Teacher should keep their phone locked for general security purposes, however, students know better than to take/use other people's personal property without their permission.
Give this Teacher their job back and punish the student. Otherwise, this sets the tone that students are free to violate Teacher's personal privacy and will receive no consequences.

Pretty ridiculous. That's equivalent to having your wallet on the table, having money stolen out of it, and then being told you're liable because there wasn't a lock on your wallet.

Punishing the victim is not an appropriate way to handle this situation. She is going through enough personal humiliation, I'm sure, without having her employment unfairly revoked for someone else's wrongdoing.

It's clear that the school board acted before knowing the full scope of the situation. Be reasonable people and swallow your pride; it's clear that you've made a mistake here.

What Mrs. Arthur did is perfectly acceptable. She has the right to enjoy her private life outside of school the way she pleases. The actions of a student of invading the privacy of her phone should be condoned and punished and the Mrs. Arthur should be absolved of any wrongdoing as she kept the photos in private in her personal device.

Completely absurd violation of someone's personal property. The student should not only be punished for his actions but the teacher should be cleared of any wrong doing.

Someone's private life should not impact their work life. It is not the teacher's fault that her private life was intruded on, and she should not be punished for it.

The adult who is ultimately responsible for this fiasco is the superintendent. He should step down immediately.

Teachers are allowed to have a personal life. What he did was steal private property. He should be punished and she should be reinstated. Then I would put a password lock my phone.
Lock up the teenager, teach him a lesson.

She did nothing wrong.
Was it worth it? No it wasn't.
