Having an unlocked phone me isn't a crime. It is pretty stupid.

For all that teachers go through such as low pay, limited resources, and having to deal with crazy federal guidelines how can you feel ok with losing a teacher that by all accounts goes above and beyond. Shameful

I believe the school district took the easy way out in having the teacher resign. The student invaded her privacy by accessing her phone without her permission. It's the student who is in the wrong, and should be held accountable for their actions.

I am not a student but a concerned mental health professional who does not understand why the invasive actions of a student would result in the "inevitable" dismissal of a teacher. Teachers are not expendable, even if they work with impressionable children.

Please do not continue the trend of political correctness being put above common sense. Ms. Arthur's private property was taken and effectively used as black mail. The content of her personal property is just that - Personal. Teenagers do dumb things. We should not be punishing those willing to step up to push teens to learn and grow, we should be backing them up with all we've got.

Punish the kid for stealing and invading someone's privacy, not the victim.

Teachers are human beings, unless the school is going to provide them with a work cell phone there is no reasonable expectation that they shouldn't have non school related or appropriate things on their personal phone. Are we supposed to live in a world where all teachers are single because they can't have a sexual side because they are around children sometimes? Good luck finding capable teachers if to be a teacher you have to give up flirting with your spouse. The only person who did anything wrong was the student.

Student stole picked up her phone and stole her personal photos and she gets fired? Since when does that make any bit of sense? Suspend the student and give her back her job!

Her private life has nothing to do with her work life, the student is at fault for going through her personal device.

What a complete load of crap. The moment that student picked up her phone, he was in the wrong. She should get her job back and that student should be disciplined.

Unapproved access to personal property and you see it as her fault? Unapproved distribution of personal data and you see it as her fault?
Bring back Mrs. Arthur!
