It's sad the student is not even being punished for violating the privacy of the teacher.

My girlfriend is a teacher in a rough school and I can't imagine how this would make me feel never the less her. There's no excuse for this kind of behavior from a student and they should be met with disciplinary action.

Awful, and the school should be ashamed. Endorsement of theft and tampering with personal property is utterly wrong. Wonder how many of those involved would happily let students see their search history or personal photos? I hope this wrong is made right.

This is an injustice that needs to be corrected. The students are clearly in the wrong here. This teacher needs an apology and her job given back to her.

This issue is rediculous. The teacher should not be at fault here.

It is never appropriate to invade another's privacy, and it's certainly not prudent to punish the victim of such an invasion. The stated reason for termination is a periphrasing of blatant sexism and puritanical shaming of women for being sexual entities in some facets of their lives. This woman did not bring her sexuality to work; it was brought from her private life by a student. This is unacceptable.

As a fellow teacher, allbeit in another country, I can't help but question the example set by this administration. And to think this teacher has forgiven the student. Man, I would hold a grudge forever.

I've taught elementary school for 15 years, and teachers don't get the respect they deserve for dealing with children that have no respect for others because of the home life they're raised with. This kid was wrong, and so is the district for not supporting their teacher.

I dont understand why schools arent holding kids accoutable anymore. Its as if there are afraid to tell kids there wrong and discipline them. Clearly the student was in the wrong for even picking up a phone that doesnt belong to him. Its outragous that this teacher get fired for a student whom is in the wrong. Even worst her administration is couradly not backing her up. Why is it students now hold more power than the teachers?

Way to set an example to the students. Your stuff gets stolen and you're the one that's punished.
