With the way this incident has been handled, I thought I was reading an article on theonion.com.
UCH, and School Board, Administrators have made a joke of themselves. And not a funny one. You should all be held personally accountable for the duress you have caused this poor educator.

What if it were your phone, and your private information? This sets a terrible precedent.

Blatant sexism. She is entitled to her privacy. The student should be expelled for harassment.

The school has made this valuable teacher a victim of illegal activity twice. Once when the student violated her privacy without authorization and the second time when she was illegally forced to resign. At least the school district should be old enough to recognize that their decision to remove this teacher is wrong.
Give her back her job and let her teach.

A teacher's phone is their personal property, what would we do if that same student stole her and used it to cause an accident that they then framed her for. Pull your heads out of your asses South Carolina!

IF the details within this article are accurate then I find the schools actions utterly vile and completely unjust.
I personally would not wish to be reinstated due to the level of embarrassment. I feel that the teacher in question deserves and should receive a sizeable severance package and a very sincere apology!

The student is the one at fault here. The teacher did nothing wrong and is also handling it like a champ.

Such as sad situation. I hope she gets her job back or gets a job with a better district that doesn't treat their teachers in such a demeaning way!

This teacher deserves to get her job back and compensation for the damages it has caused. She had something on her own personal private device and some kid invaded that privacy and took a step further to spread the image. That alone is a criminal act and the kid should be held liable. Clearly the teacher won't be able to work the same school anymore but she deserves another chance somewhere else.

Before I start my rant, I would like to apologize on behalf of our generation.
First off, I cannot believe that the school is not siding and defending the real victim, Mrs. Arthur. It’s simple, her phone was illegally accessed and privacy violated. I hate casting blame onto others, since you yourself is the ultimate decision maker, but the fact that the students involved do not seem to have received any sort of punishment is backwards and appalling that it just fuels this kind of tasteless behavior.
Recently graduating high school myself, student behavior was an absolute joke. I could not go one single school day without a teacher having to stop lecture due to student disturbance. Do parents of millennials know how undisciplined their children are? School is not a day care.
Mrs. Arthur is an irreplaceable addition to the education system because whoever wants to be an educator in this day in age is beyond me and I applaud them for their service.
I sincerely hope Mrs. Arthur will be reinstated, and the student responsible punished. Best wishes.

This is insane. Teacher's privacy was violated. Student needs to be punished.
Also, don't leave your F*CKING devices unlocked when they're out of sight. This applies to everyone.

Just heard about this and became sick of the thought of someone being fired from their job for having their privacy taken from them. Teachers are regular people too and regular people make mistakes although the main mistake I see was made by the student who decided to degrade his teacher.

Blaming the victim for having their personal information stolen and posted online is like blaming someone for having their house broken into and their stuff being sold online. The statement that "well they shouldn't have had it if the didn't want it leaked" just makes not sense, its their personal lives they can do what they want on their own time.

Did the school board lose their minds? How inept do you have to be to punish the victim and let the invader go unpunished? This needs to be rectified pronto, with a serious apology to the victim (Leigh Anne Arthur) and the invader (whoever the horrible child is) severely punished and made an example of, and I would take a good hard look at whoever made the decision to fire Leigh Anne Arthur and see if THEY'RE worthy of keeping their jobs, because their actions are as idiotic as they are pathetic. What a total shambles.
