What a screwed up world we live in where a blatant invasion of privacy is the victim's fault and nothing happens to the perpetrator.

Hopefully the wonderful student who created and signed this petition will in some way make up for the shoddy way the offending student AND the school system have treated Mrs. Arthur.

How can the teacher watch every kid ALL of the time? Maybe she was busy with other students or it was during a break.

The student that did this should be suspended. The teacher should be reinstated. Do not further victimize victims and hold those who would victimize accountable.

He needs to be on house arrest til he is 21 and as far as the school why can't she get the deal the last superintendent got.I'd sue him and the school.

The male student should be expelled, as he stole her phone and invaded her privacy. Just because a grocery store is unlocked doesn't mean you're allowed in and to take whatever you want for free. The teacher should be allowed to work and have a private life. That student, especially spreading it to the class, should be expelled and write a formal written apology to the teacher. Any other student who threatened her should be made to write an apology as well. This is absurd.

As a fellow educator I am dumbfounded at the response of the school district to this situation. How can we expect the next generation to do better if we don't hold them accountable for their own actions?

Besides the obvious point of not punishing one person for the actions of another, does the administration really think that 16 year olds have never seen nude pictures - or that these would necessarily "corrupt" them? Of course, the one student did a good enough job of corrupting himself - but that would have been the case if there were no photos on the phone at all.

This has happened at my own hometown's school, in New York. I want you (Union County High) to not do what my school did. All the best to you, Mrs. Arthur.

Disgusting, a student commits Theft, Invasion of privacy and voyeurism and the school decides to SUPPORT the student and Fire the victim? Absolute despicable, the Board of Management should resign over their incompetence. Teaching students this kind of illegal activity is ok and that the victims should be blamed.

The teacher didn't do anything thing wrong. The student should be disciplined to reinforce what he was taught when he was younger. The difference between right and wrong. Please help her get her job back so she can continue to teach our children.

I agree. This is a miscarriage. The lady did nothing wrong and deserves her job back.

Why is the teacher being punished for the student's action?
