What if it had been your phone stolen and private information shared? And why not suspend/expell the thieving student?

This is a blatant offense of an individuals personal privacy and the student alone is responsible.

Its wrong to punish someone who did nothing wrong. The student is the one at fault

School board either made a knee-jerk reaction without having all the information, or they had all the information and still decided wrong. This sets the precedent that a student can get a teacher fired by simply finding a way to access their phone. Save some face and re-instate Mrs. Arthur.

Let's hold everyone accountable for their own actions, specifically the student. A mistake or not, the student is the one to blame and should be reprimanded.

Unless there is more to the story under no circumstances short of sex with a student should she resign. So if she left her lunch, what if her husband left a note that was inappropriate, left her keys found adult appropriate items in car, it could go on and on and she is to blame???

What a pathetic world we live in where a teacher can't have personal pictures on her phone, and consider them safe from public viewing. Kid should be kicked out.

What kind of perverted kid would go looking through a teachers phone deliberately and then claim "Her day of reckoning has come" ?!

The student who illegally used Ms. Arthur's phone should be expelled and Ms. Arthur should be reinstated immediately. Clearly, she is a beloved teacher who should be with her students.

The student should be punished, at 16 you know what right and wrong are, and if you don't your parents should be punished.

As a parent, I would not be in favor of any teacher of my child's being fired over a situation like that. The teacher is the victim here. Punishing her sends the entirely wrong message.

Bogus reasons for being forced to resign. She actually should be pressing charges against this child, which is what would happen in any other building but a school.
