The teacher is clearly in the right here, and her coerced resignation should be torn up and her status reinstated. In what world do we still punish the victims instead of the criminals?
Sure, putting a passcode on her phone might have helped. But the principal at this school most assuredly doesn't have iron bars over their home windows - should we blame them if someone were to break in and rob them? The victim is not to blame for the act of a criminal.

She is the victim. Just because she made a judgement error by not locking her phone doesn't mean that she should be punished.

The fact that the kid who did this hasn't been disciplined for invasion of privacy by exploiting a teacher's private photos , but rather the teacher is forced to resigned is despicable.

A picture taken in privacy and sent to her husband is private. Blaming her for this and firing her is akin to blaming rape victims for wearing the 'wrong thing'.

The phone was the teacher's private property! what she does in her own home is her OWN BUSINESS.
Where is the little brat that went through her phone, invaded her privacy, and made her lose her job?
What happens to him?
Does he even care?
Backwards system.

An ADULT has the RIGHT to send whatever she wants to her husband. It's disgusting that she's being held responsible for the criminal actions of a student.

This is a disgusting act by the administration of this school. The principal and school board should be ashamed of themselves. Meanwhile, the 16 year old brat should rot in jail.

This is a blatant invasion of privacy. The superintendent's comments about Ms. Arthur being in the wrong for leaving her phone unlocked on the desk are infuriating. With this logic, one could walk in the superintendent's unlocked office door and steal anything the he or she wanted. Since he left his door unlocked it's his fault his items were stolen; the thief is not at fault because he or she just seized the opportunity at hand. One person is clearly at fault here and it is not Ms. Arthur.
The teacher should be reinstated and student should be arrested.
