Choosing behavior that sends young people the message to blame the victim was a serious error in judgment on the part of the administration. I'm glad to see that so many students were raised with good enough morals to spot the problem with this immediately and start this petition.

Do the right thing. You have a student who is admitting he was wrong and an educator whose life is ruined. Send the appropriate message to students by reinstating a woman who has devoted 13 years of her life to your district.

I would like to say that no matter how many times a student has used her phone with permission, does not make it right for the student to use it without permission. That is like saying that if you have sex with someone multiple times that they have the right to get it without permission the next time.

This lady's career has (potentially) been ruined by the actions of a pupil she was trying to assist. WTF has the world come to?
Mr David Eubanks - wake up and smell the coffee! You seem to have failed to heed the overwhelming support for this lady.
Lessons have hopefully be learned by ALL.
Sit down and talk it through - but most of all - re-instate this lady.

Everyone has the right to privacy. This is clearly a breach of that and an abuse towards the teacher

This lady should be given her job back now and this young man should be punished.
If this was some kid hacking into the White house and passing on information he would be punished...what is the difference.
He has a very low morale compass.

This student still needs to be expelled. Sorry can mean something, but that's not a punish fit to the crime. Disgusting.

We can't continue to allow the conservative public to create such an outrage that they squash individual freedoms. We need to stand up to the nanny state mentality.

It is wrong that in America, where at the behest of a child, overcome by unfounded opinions and struggling to develop strong morals, we would condemn a teacher who had their personal property and life exposed. The ideas behind our Constitution are philosophically grounded in the preservation of a person's self, whether that be their property or their identity. We live in an age where technological advancements are outpacing our philosophical ideals of what should and should not be private property. I cannot help but feel that in a state like South Carolina, the archaic preservation of religion, and what religion deems more important, is being put before the preservation of man.

Teachers have enough to cope with without having to worry about others invading their privacy. She has done nothing wrong and should not be punished.
If she had left money on her desk the most she would be responsible for would be stupidity and the student for theft, so why is it different in this case?

Teachers should be afforded the same level of privacy as students. If the positions were reversed, the student would be considered a victim and the teacher charged.

I cannot believe that the school has taken this action against Mrs Arthur. If nor reinstated she should sue for unlawful dismissal. It is totally preposterous. ( from a UK resident.)

Can't get me head around the schools actions ? Would they have sacked her if she was stabbed by her own knife ??
