Unacceptable. Time for students to face the consequences of their actions.

Cell phones are federally considered private property. Going through a phone without consent is illegal. Police and federal agencies need warrants to do the same thing. Should that warrant not be acquired then anything found is inadmissible in a court of law. Nude pictures of oneself is also not illegal. It is part of Mrs. Arthur's personal life which is especially protected in private property. It is the same as if the student were to have taken a photo of her in her own home.

This is atrocious that she is being punished for the malicious actions of a student. Shame on the school for allowing this to happen.

Not only should this teacher not lose her job, the student should be expelled per district policy. She may have used poor judgment in leaving her phone unattended, but what is on it is her business. If the student had taken another student's phone, what would be the consequences? That he has not been punished for stealing or blackmail is ridiculous and a perfect example of why teachers are powerless in their own classrooms.

The student should be held responsible for his actions of theft and violation of Ms Arthur's right to privacy.

She should not be held accountable for the actions of some stupid teenage boy! She is allowed to take whatever pictures she wants in her private life, and keep them on HER phone, her job has nothing to do with it and to fire her is ridiculous. Expell the boy!

The phone is her private property. Forcing her to resign seems unjust.

I suppose if he went in her purse and found a tampon the school district would have expelled her as a sex offender! LOL

Let's use some common sense, folks, and stop blaming teachers for students' misbehavior. The school district SHOULD get a fat lawsuit slapped on them.

How is the cool board not taking action against the student. The student had the intent of doing her harm, he knew that what he was doing was wrong and that it would affect her for the rest of her life. She's better off without the job either way, she should get a better job in another state and leave all of this behind her.

It is unacceptable that a teacher is being punished for the illegal behavior of a student, and even worse that the student is not facing legal repricussions for his sexual exploitation of a female.

How dare you fire this woman because a student decided to be a thief. I think you are getting the victim and the criminal mixed up in this case.
