Disgusting for her to lose her job because of an invasion of her privacy. The headteacher seems to have an ulterior motive.

This situation is ludicrous! Poor woman! I think an evaluation of the poor decision making of the Superintendent should be the school district's next line of business.

I support these students petition. I think it is sweet they care but also great that they are using tools that make democracy possible.

Please do not dismiss this petition as "insignificant". Mrs Arthur is the victim not an offender. Please look at the facts and revise your decision.

This is an extreme invasion of.privacy by the student. It is not dissimilar to infiltrating the ladies changing room whilst she is showering and then taking photos and sharing on the Internet. A phone is personal property. If you take money or car keys from a purse he would be.punished for theft....how is it any different to stealing photos off a phone......they are both personal property.

Absolutely outrageous! She should be reinstated, the student suspended and an official apology issued by the school/district.

You shouldn't be able to sack someone because their privacy was invaded!! If she's a good teacher that's a huge waste of talent. Good luck!

Defiantly should be reinstated in her job.
This 16 year old needs to be given a punishment; he went into someone's property, it's NOT the point wether the mobile was unlocked or NOT!!

Heard about this poor woman on the Philip De Franco show - the school'so response to this is disgusting. She had her privacy invaded but SHE was the one to be punished?? What kind of sick logic is that? This kid does not understand what he has done - she will, understandably, probably not come back as she has been humiliated. She has lost her job and her whole world has been turned upside down. The principal can try to get her back but what really needs to happen here is a grovelling public apology.

The teacher in this case is clearly the victim, she has had any number of her rights violated and did absolutely nothing illegal or immoral. Why should she be required to secure her device, rather the student should not access it without prior explicit consent. The teacher student relationship does nothing to change the basic legal rights of ownership, intellectual property and theft. Furthermore this student should be prosecuted at least under the "revenge porn" legislation.
