That kid is disgusting. I hope they get charged for theft and sexual assault. I don't care if they disliked the teacher or not, this is too far. As a high school student, I am ashamed.

Give her back her job. Wether the phone was unlocked or not it was private and you do not touch other peoples property.

I'm from Nepal and read about the petition in New York Times. Couldn't care less! Power to Ms.Arthur.

She should be reinstated and the student that stole the phone should be punished.

As a teacher myself, I could not imagine a less supportive administration and work environment than the school Mrs. Arthur worked for. I hope that the superintendent and anyone who's mistreated Mrs. Arthur get what they deserve, and that Mrs. Arthur will be employed by another school who will treat her fairly.

This is awful. Teenagers know exactly what damage they're doing when they're doing it. They should learn the hard way. A slap on the wrist prepare him for the real world. The poor woman is the victim here.

This is just another example of what is wrong with this country. The very thought that a student can act in this manner and face no repercussions for their actions should be unthinkable.

Firing the teacher, even though she was clearly the victim here, is just crazy and defies common sense.

If my house is unlocked does that give the right for people to come in and take my private information? No. This is no different

David Eubanks obviously has a problem with the teacher concerned but needs to stand up and do the right thing and reinstate Her.It should be the student who is punished for his childishness .

What is wrong with this country let's not even think of defending this individual teacher back so she carries on with the job she was doing pupil expelled and lesson to all the others DONT MESS with another person property #pcworldgonemad!!!!

The student violated her privacy, and worse. Punish the student, not the teacher. What is wrong with educators today that they think a human being in their employ has no rights?
