I dont believe she should be punished.I believe the student should be.

I can tell the administrators of this school district are weak in character! The teacher's rights were violated. I'm sure there are several other educators that have personal pictures. This is the same as someone breaking into her home to steal the picture.

Schools should be teaching kids what's right and what's wrong, not telling them they can get away with a crime while someone else takes the fall.

The school board should take action on the student! Do not encourage this behavior. She did nothing wrong

I'm sorry but I feel in today's society it is pretty common and normal to send pictures and while I do feel you should be careful about who you send them to I see nothing wrong with sending them to your boyfriend or especially your husband and that the teenager is wrong and she should not be punished for that.

She should not be punished for a student taking her phone , the student should be charged or punished , what was in her phone was her business and it shouldn't come above the fact that he took the phone off of her personal desk , her property.

This school is blaming the wrong person! Teachers cannot be at everyplace at every time. That is why it is important that students do the right things. Punishing the teacher sets the wrong message for the school. Teachers are only human, they make mistakes. This doesn't make them a bad teacher! I hope this petition helps this teacher get her job back.

Yes, she was stupid to take the nude shot and keep it. No, she was not the one at fault here--the student was and he needs to be punished appropriately, not the teacher.

This is absolutely ridiculous. Laws abound to protect students from teachers, and they need to work both ways. This automatic rejection and rolling of heads any time there is an incident or allegation, in the name of protecting the integrity of the institution, is unacceptable. Teachers invest their lives, at great personal expense, in their students and their work at a level that is unmatched matched in any other profession. Disagree? I challenge you to ague that to the families and of the teachers who have taken bullets for our children. It's time we see principals and superintendents return the same trust and solidarity with dignity and respect. If Leigh Anne is truly guilty of sexually inappropriate behavior, charges would be filed against her and not the young adult who violated her privacy in full cognizance. The only thing she is guilty of is poor judgement in allowing her personal items to be obtained in a public setting without her knowledge or permission, and of becoming a scapegoat in the name of cowardly administrators with whom priority is to protect their own interests and careers first. Legal counsel would wise to consider claims against the school district, direct supervisors, and the student - and she would be right to pursue it due to the fact that this incident will likely end not only her career as an educator, but attach a stigma that will follow her wherever she applies for employment. Leigh Anne, I've read the honest testaments of your students and community. You deserve better than this. Our educators deserve better. And so do our children.

The president exists that there is an expectation of privacy when it comes to the content of a cell phone. This was upheld by the supreme court in their ruling that data on a cell phone is protected from illegal search under the 4th amendment even when seized or otherwise acquired. This means that the data is not considered public domain unless she specifically gave the student access. He searched for it on a private device without permission and thus he did something illegal and immoral; not her. She is the victim of a crime. She is also a victim of sexual harassment. Both situations require the school to protect her from being further victimized and to prevent retaliatory actions by their administration.

This superintendent is the one that needs to go. The student was in the wrong- not the teacher!

Victim blaming is absolutely disgusting. This is what we're teaching our sons and daughters; that it's okay to violate someone because there was access to them? Wonderful. Thanks, because we needed more rape culture in this world. So disgusting.
