1) Taking a cell phone without permission is theft. 2) Invasion of privacy is a tort--that is, the student could be sued for invading your privacy, assuming he's doing things that the average reasonable person would find intrusive. 3) You could sue for any charges run up in regards to calls, texting, etc. – if done 4) If the student has represented himself as another person in anyway (i.e. pretended to be another), that may be identify theft--a crime, and possibly grounds to sue. 5) It's possible if any comments made *may* constitute sexual harassment. In short, there are several grounds under which the student’s actions are wrong.

Start a funding page and file a lawsuit against the school

She should have her job back, I fully support her. She should not be in trouble at all. Although, she should have had a lock code on her phone to protect her privacy. The boy shouldn't be shown hatred, but should face punishment just to show him what he did wrong in order to teach him a lesson. Nothing to any extremities. Just maybe like a three day suspension. I support this woman completely and she should have no guilt but neither should the boy. As long as he learns from his wrong doing.

As far as I'm concerned what this student did is theft!

What happens in her personal life is just that, personal. That teen should be disciplined and have to pay for the time the teacher has missed

She deserves her job back. The young man was in the wrong. He invaded her privacy.

This is assinine! The school is supposed to educate young people to become intelligent, and contributing members of society. This teacher's privacy was invaded, and her professional career mamed. I know people want her to get her job back, but they owe her a severance package and an apology at worst. If I lived there, then my child would be pulled from that school immediately and transferred. This is uncomprehendable. Best wishes to the teacher!

The officials who made Mrs. Arthur resign are in the wrong. Okay, I'll say it--they're ignorant!

It is totally an injustice to blame the teacher on this. Her intentions were nothe to harm anyone. I am sure the superintendent doesn't lock his phone. I am sure not everyone in that school locks their phone. She should be commended and consoled for what she is going through.

Kid do stupid things, but we have to hold our children responsible for what they do. The young man took someone else's property and that is stealing, what is the message here that the victim is prosecuted

There should be a petition to oust David Eubanks. Teachers with her expertise in her academic field are needed. Eubanks wants to punish her because she is a woman.

Typical school administration blame teacher not the student. Allowing someone to use phone does not mean allowing them to disseminate what is on in without permission of owner!

I grew up in a time where the teacher had ultimate control and students were respectful. Sadly, those days are long gone. The drastic measure the superintendent chose to take was extreme. This could have been and should have been IMO handled with reprimands, and some counseling for the student on boundaries. The US has become a Nation of punish first then continue to punish until we are left utterly drained. May there be a successful resolution for all involved.

I wouldn't be so quick to defend the student. He knew exactly the impact when he posted nude photos of his teacher.

She has done nothing wrong. That student had absolutely NO right to look through her phone without her permission. Why should she suffer because of the malicious act of ONE student???
