Pearson Monopoly and the Obama administration think they can shut down free speech in this country to further the greed of a shoddy corporation.

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

Assuming this version of events is true, I cannot believe this is legal. It's certainly not right.

As a former school board member for NewYork City, I am deeply troubled by the apparent retribution directed at this teacher for doing the right thing for his students.

Students and parents should be fully informed before making any and all decisions. This teacher was doing his job by giving all the facts needed to make an informed decision. The more I learn about PARCC and Pearson the more infuriated I get.

I don't care if Mr. Ashton did tell the students to Opt-out, this action is in violation of his fist amendment rights and probably violates a slew of labor laws. You can not fire someone for being skeptical or even opposed to the PARCC. As an educator I believe the PARCC is a terrible assessment, and tantamount to child abuse. Opposing the PARCC is not only a civil right, it is a moral obligation!

I applaud these students and Mr. Ashton for not accepting the nonsense the administration fed them. Good for you for sticking up for freedom of speech.
