This man is one of the few teachers that left a lasting impression on me and I would hate for one incident to ruin a man's career and reputation that he has built over decades. He is a caring, honest, and driven educator that deserves this support from the many students he has impacted.

I don't know what happened but from what I hear is that he yelled at a student... when has this not been ok? In my opinion that's exactly what kids need these days, they think they deserve everything and should be treated like gold, news flash kids, you can't do whatever you want and think you shouldn't be punished for it. Don't even get me started on the parents blaming everyone else for everything instead of the child! Smh.... he is a great teacher, one of the best, out of all the teachers in the bay he is one of the ones that still stands out in my mind, he is strict but you know what, high school kids need structure to learn and will thank him later! Just like most of us did!. This helps transition to adult life and college life if that's what you choose. College teachers are no joke, just like him. Teachers are authority figures in school, like a parent, for them to not be able to discipline a child that is acting a certain way is outrageous. The school needs to get a grip and back the teachers.

Great guy, great teacher. Cant say i was the best student but he was one of those teachers that made going to class a little bit more enjoyable. Not only a varsity soccer coach, or a global teacher, he was a friend to the community.

I always love running into to Mr.Bastian when I visit home. He was an invaluable part of my education, and walked me though my idiot rebellious phase. I never thought twice about asking for help and he never failed to help me. If there is talks of dismissing him, the powers that be should definitely reconsider this position.

Mr Bastion should not be fired!! He is an amazing teacher who cares for his students. In this small school he can actually teach and it would be rediculous to let a great teacher go. That school had multiple teachers who should have retired yet are still working because there is a lack of teacher in the area.

We are very fortunate to have Teacher's in our school that care enough to push our kids. Mr Bastian is an excellent teacher. Both my kids took his classes - obviously we don't know all the details but possibly things could have been handled differently.

Mr. Bastian yelled at me all the time, sent me to the office, gave me a hard time when I played (hockey) poorly, and guess what?? I DESERVED it every time. He was a great teacher, very fair, and have a ton of respect for him as an educator and man.

I don't know any part of the story, nor do I care. But I do know that Mr. Bastian is an excellent teacher who cares very much for his students and the community. You would have to be an idiot to not see that.

What I've heard the student was disrespectful to Mr. Bastian and the school. teachers have to have the right to keep their classroom I/n their control and safe environment for his/hers students

I've heard parts of the story, and if they're true, the child was being disrespectful of the school and Mr. Bastian, as well as attempting to damage school property. I feel Mr. Bastian was in the right in disciplining the Child and taking them to the office, and the Child is just being juvenile while the parents are supporting disrespect and property damage.
