I developed a friendship with Lt Col Hunter while serving at Ft Bliss, TX. He is an excellent leader, mentor and human being. I was always proud to serve alongside him and other officers of his caliber. He deserves reinstatement. Maj Donald Michael, USAR - Retired

I have personally observed LTC Hunter with his JROTC class. He is an outstanding leader and roll model. His JROTC class is the sharpest I"ve seen and better than many college ROTC's. If I can be of any more help to him please let me know. Brig Gen Edward S. Mansfield, USAFR (Ret.)

Ashamed of the treatment he has received from our school department. As a veteran who has put his life on the line for our freedom, he deserves better and this should not just fade away.

Lt. Col. Hunter does an awesome job teaching those students. They are the most respectful, responsible, hard working group of kids I have ever met. This is not just a job for the colonel, it is a way of life. Salem High School and it’s future students will be the ones who lose in the end, if he is not brought back. Just an opinion from someone who works at SHS.

We are all still learning from one another.

We need more role models like Lt. Col Hunter in our schools today. For a man to be fired due to his passion for instilling proper behaviour in our students is a disservice to all.

I grew up in Salem and attended Salem High. I wish we had a Jr ROTC program back then with Lt Col Hunter leading it. I ended up leaving for Parris Island two weeks after graduation. I feel that in the best interest of everyone involved I would like to see Lt Col Hunter be reinstated. Semper Fi

Lt. Col Hunter should be reinstated for many reasons. As a past member of the Billerica School Committee I understand that the school committee cannot hire and fire because of the education Reform Act of 1993. However, they can hire and fire the superintendant as well as evaluate, set her pay, and her contract. Don't be fooled. The school committee has more influence than they claim. They may be hiding behind the Ed Reform Act so that they won't have to make a tough decision.

Seems there were hasty decisions and adult mistakes made - all part of life. This is an opportunity to right a wrong for the betterment of SHS.

As a classmate, family friend and having the honor of being his invited guest at Camp Pendleton as he was the honoree and not an empty seat. A sea of hundreds of Marines were there, and many that served under Lt' Col command. He is passionate about his job and lives his own life both private and public, in a manner than the Marine Corp instilled in him. He is highly educated, fair and decent. A role model for any student but especially those with attitude issues. Salem's loss will be someone else's gain if not rectified in his rehiring. Oorah Michael.... " pain is just weakness leaving the body"... you will always land on your feet and on the right side of any issue ."Charlie"

LTC Michael Hunter is an outstanding leader and his cadets are sharper than many I’ve seen at college ROTC’s.
