Sister Gwen Roomes came to Sheffield in 2002 to help fill a shortfall in teachers.  Sister Roomes is a good teacher who taught in some of the worst schools in Sheffield.  Later Sister Roomes became well known in Sheffield city center where she would play the guitar and Evangelize.

Since entering the UK Sister Roomes has cooperated fully with the Home Office. However on Thursday 8th March Sister Roomes was detained by the Home office.  In the early hours of Tuesday 13th March Sister Roomes was transferred from a detention center in Manchester to Yarls wood detention center near London.
In the early hours of Friday 16th March Sister Roomes was moved to a Detention center at Heathrow Airport.  At 12:10 Sister Roomes was deported.

This is a 59 year old School Teacher who was humiliated, deprived of sleep, her health suffered as a result.  In Jamaica she is passed the retirement age so cannot work.  Her sons and grandchildren are in Sheffield.  Sister Roomes belongs here in Sheffield.  So I urge you to sign the petition to bring back Sister Gwen Roomes
